Thanks for update - you may have to be persistent...see Dairy Queen's post.
I received a holding letter around 10 days later promising a detailed response within eight weeks.

I heard nothing for several months. I called HMRC again. This time I received the promised response around 6 weeks later.

    Hang on in there!
  • xylophone, It does get frustrating when everything is outwith my control but I will twiddle my thumbs meanwhiles. I only hope that when the new forecast and explanation arrives, that it is correct! Full credit to dairy queen but I really don't fancy a protracted back and forth exchange.
    regards

My experience suggest that persistence will pay off as I upped my starting amount by the equivalent of four years NI. That's the equivalent of £1000p.a. extra SP at today's rate. Index-linked and guaranteed. :T

    Good luck!
  • DairyQueen, Thanks

    drumtochty,
No. I left school and started work June 1972, age 15.
    regards
The school leaving age was 15 from 1944 & only raised to 16 in September 1972.

£21 a week underpaid they had on on my forecast
  • nigelbb,
Thanks for that info, although I do not understand why drumtochty questioned the fact I started employment at age 15.

  • minty777,
Yes, I am aware some State Pension Forecasts are incorrect. Hence my current query.

Probably didn't realise that raising the school leaving age was relatively recent & that there are still people in the workforce who could have left school at fifteen.
