You have check your SP record, have you check ed your NI record? does that provide any helpxylophone, thanks for the reply and information inc links. It appears that I have hit a brick wall with progress until I produce all info re contracted out/in. I do not have this info, therefore I am at the mercy of Pensions Futures Dept to produce the info required in the written reply. I will give update when received.During our phone conversation the operative had no response re missing info.
regards

Rangersfc,
It is your pension and you need to get your thinking cap on, get a sheet of paper broken into years and through remebering and talking to friends etc work out who you worked for over the years.
I have done that both for myself and my good lady. To check we had got the correct number of NI credits and the correct ones that were contracted in and out. Not rocket science!
It is no good relying on a faceless indidual in HMRC who has downloaded data to the DWP to work out your work record to get that correct. We know from info given by HMRC that thier data is not always correct.
A mistake of 5 years contracted in that is incorrect would cost you £500 a year in state pension for life.
Your pension and your look out to get the correct figures as an error in the pre 2016 data could be robbing you of state pension.
It is your responsibility to look into that to check the records HMRC/DWP have are correct.
Get that thinking cap on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!10 -
Not a lot of help though is it, just tells you which years are full, nothing about contracted status. You have check your SP record, have you check ed your NI record? does that provide any help

drumtochty,
Yes, you are correct about my own efforts! I do have an approximate estimate of employment dates and pension scheme membership. However, I have no record which period or timescales were opted in/out. I do know that I have always been employment since I left school and I am hoping my reply from Pension Futures has all the relevant facts and info required.
Thanks to all for input and I will update.

My online pension statement is almost exactly the same as yours, in terms of years and no mention of Cope.
However, before the online version was available, I had paper statements showing my contracted-out period, and the effect that would have on my pension forecast if I stopped work at that age (no more NI contributions). As I carried on working, additional years (must have) removed the reduction. Eventually, my pension calculation under Old Rules and New Rules were pretty much the same.
So, HMRC must have my Contracted Out information (due to old paper statements) but no COPE is shown now,0 -
Chickereeeee,
Thank you for the information. I am hoping HMRC has all the required data and can clearly and definitively explain my correct State Pension amount.

Short update,
I have just spoken with a helpful operative at DWP. They have confirmed that there is not a COPE figure or opt in /out details attached to my online forecast. She has taken all relevant details and will work with HMRC to ensure everything is sorted and correct. May take 6 to 8 weeks. I am starting to doubt if I will receive the full amount.
