    Afternoon All,

Hope everyone having a good weekend. Oooooo its a little chilly out there today! I woke up feeling a little rubbish this morning for some reason, I decided to go for a little run just to see if that would cheer me up and it kinda worked. I have also done the bit of shopping we needed for this week and now I plan to sit in house and relax. I think when I finally go onto my normal shift pattern I will go do shopping on a Sunday as that seems a good day to do it, I know I could do it online but weirdly I prefer to go do the grocery shopping in person.

The plan for rest of day is to watch a bit of tv and I have been doing a lot of just watching random rubbish on youtube and losing hours of the day haha. I have a nice roast dinner cooking so looking forward to that later. I then plan to watch footy and then the superbowl with some snacks til I fall asleep haha. I half expected to wake up to a covering of snow but that hasn't appeared yet.

    Enjoy your Sunday all

you should (if you want) offer your work that you'll look after your old role for say 3 months on an overtime basis - (the advantage of offering, is they would probably expect you to do it anyway at no extra money and this at least makes them think about what they are asking).  That could just give everything a top up while we are all still locked down.  Also allow you maybe to insist on no night shifts

Then as we move out of lock down, you can fully move into your new job, and also have some cash saved up for a but of a rebound splurge
I think I saw you in an ice cream parlour
Drinking milk shakes, cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine

Hope you’ve had a good afternoon rugby match was a good one if you watched it.

Not had that experience with son’s schooling tbh around 1/2 of his class are East Asian doctors/ surgeons kids and FML they are strict on the education even at son’s age, no banter whatsoever proper helicopter parents so def no messing about ha.

Food/ top up shops - maybe just think about planning what you’re eating in advance and write an ingredients list. Do top up shop at supermarket rather than local shop etc.

Thankfully the night shifts have stopped, so I am currently doing only days. They could quite easily have me go onto my rota already but there is a colleague they don't wanna upset but I can only do so much at a time and while they don't move me then they will have just deal with that.  I am hoping there is no rebound splurge lol, however it inevitable that once restrictions ease then we will have more spends, we are due to go away to my mums caravan in the summer so that would be nice for that still to happen.

I had a lovely chilled afternoon, I chilled laid on sofa watching footy while little one just played in her room and partner watched her shows so all round lazy day today lol. I then cooked us a nice roast dinner which I loved, its been a while since we had a family roast dinner - my shifts just don't always allow that. And now its time to watch superbowl now while they are both snoring away!.

Its a weird thing with food spends and top up shops we are generally well planned but its always 1 thing we miss like bread or milk or something small but then when I go shop it ends up been more than what I went for haha. I need to better plan I think.

And that is the end of another day - it just seems rinse and repeat at the minute haha. Its been a tough one today in our household. We took the little one out for a walk and play in the snow today to break up the school day. Its been another emotional one today - she hasn't been herself today at all. So  we have decided that its going to be in her best interest to have a break from home schooling tomorrow, we have cleared with school. I think the break will do her good - so tomorrow will be a family film day and trying to cheer her up.

I have also managed to go through my full year budget and break down exactly what we get and how we are going use that through the year. We get income coming in at different times of the month and have always struggled with how it gets used and in the past has always been frittered away. The reality when you look at the figures we have plenty to be comfortable with, however coz we haven't been giving the fortnightly income a job it just goes to waste. We always have a bit left by payday but it hasn't been used as effectively as it could be so I have now allocated our income properly and hope this will ensure we are been as effective with our money as possible

I think it's a good idea to give DD a break. My dd's school have wellbeing Wednesdays so the afternoon is free to do what they want. Last week ds's school had a screen free day.  It's a bit easier on the older ones as they can contact their friends but it's tough for the younger ones.

Well done on the forward planning,  looks like you have a sound plan.

Sounds like a chilled Sunday mate. Never got into the superbowl quite glad tbh or just would be another excuse to stay up. My Mrs loves sport take it yours doesn’t? Could be why daughter not interest either ha.

Re daughter don’t think a day break will harm but I’m no teacher lol. Not really had problems with schooling our son but he’s missing his mates and couple of my staff are struggling with similar stuff on the schooling so you’re not alone mate.

Good move re income- need to see everything that comes in as income. I used to ignore my HMRC fuel money tbt was spending that and usually more on the powder so ignored that ‘income’ in my head was free to spend that on the chang never enough though and just sabotage. I’m not saying you do anything that stupid but just an example of losing income through not even considering it income in the first place iyswim.

The school were well on board with it and it will only be one day. I think its tiredness from her more than anything her routine is everywhere. The plan is to let her have a break today a nice early night and hopefully back to normal tomorrow.

It has taken me a while to forward plan - whilst I love YNAB it doesn't always give me the full overview which is why I also like to combine it with a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet gives me the full breakdown and YNAB is where I am able to kinda see a snapshot of the month and where money is allocated to.

Sunday was a nice chilled one ha. I love my sports tbh, the partner isn't as into sport as me but doesn't mind it too much. The daughter likes her football to play it but not so much to sit and watch haha she would rather watch whatever rubbish her Mummy watches!

School seemed to be on board with the day off tbh, I just think it will do her good, she has been on it 100 percent since the first lockdown and handled it pretty well I just think the lack of a proper routine is causing the issue.

Re the the income we get it through the month and then my wage at end of month so we have always said we would save the income through the month and then we have one lump sum at the end of month....it never works out that way haha so plan is to allocate that money into paying some of the savings goals we have through the month rather than the end of month. Hopefully this way means we are utilising the income properly rather than just having it sat there in joint account and then being frittered away.
