    Morning everyone.

It is meant to be summer....right?! Haha

Not really got much planned for today. The little one is at nursery so going to take advantage of the quiet and try sort some of her old toys ready to take to charity shop or hospital at some point. I have tried this a few times but not very successful when the little one is here :rotfl:

    To Do today

    - Write down all annual renewal dates and reminders to look for better deals.
    - Go through all my accounts and stop any payments for stuff i no longer use
    - Buy birthday card for sister

Yesterday was my 1st NSD :D:D

A side thought i currently have breakdown cover which is quite expensive, i mean it is the top cover but debating whether to drop the parts and labour cover as this adds like £90 to the overall price, whilst it is good to have peace of mind i'm thinking of taking it off. Surely even i don't have the parts cover if they can't fix it at the roadside i would still get towed home? Anyone got any recommendations for more reasonably priced cover that gives a good service. I do travel alot as partner as family in Scotland.

    Have a fab day everyone

  • Summer, what is this thing you talk of?!?!

Whoop whoop, love a NSD I had one yesterday too! Mind you it is because I have no money left to spend but still counts right?

Hmm breakdown cover I'm not entirely sure of I bank with Nationwide and I get Greenflag as part of my account, it is a £13 charge per month but that covers my travel, phone, keys and breakdown cover so it's not too bad really.

    Dxxx
  • Miserable weather here too :(

Well done on the NSD. With breakdown cover, have you checked the motoring section on MSE? AutoAid come highly recommended and one policy covers both yourself and your partner (if applicable for £60), might be worth a look?

I've also been sorting through the kids stuff today, 2 bags taken to the charity shop while I was on the school run :)

    Hey Dolly :)

Haha, Summer..that season that lasts a few weeks in the uk. It fits in right next to the other 50 weeks of winter/autumn :D I guess the fact it isn't sunny is possibly a blessing in disguise, when its warm i love to be out and about which usually means spending.

it 100% counts! haha :D Congrats on your NSD. I was with Greenflag before and it covered pretty much what i needed but it took a little longer to get to me than my current one but i am paying for it. I am worrying that if i downgrade it then it wouldn't cover the parts/labour but i guess that providing i can get home safe if needed thats the main thing.

    Have a lovely day.

    Hey Dancing,

I have checked out a few things with regards to breakdown cover. I checked Greenflag, but also checked Auto aid and GEM. My work friend is with GEM and he says they are pretty good, its more expensive than Autoaid but way cheaper than AA. I am going to compare both Autoaid and GEM properly and decide.

Unfortunately i have found i have a puncture so now need to fix that :( so that needs fixing,

Productive day so far. I have managed to clear 2 boxes worth of toys, which has given me two more storage boxes for the random clutter in kitchen so I can box up that and start utilising the cupboard space we have. When the heck did I managed to gather so much junk!! Unfortunately my child has decided she would now rather play with the toy box than the toys that were in it :rotfl:

Also have now got a unexpected expense. I was going to shop and then as I parked up I noticed that tyre was flat, further investigation finds a nail in tyre  Luckily no damage to the alloy which my wheel size suffer a lot with but still £45 that I hadn't counted on needing to pay. Fortunately this was already in my pots in monzo, unfortunately this was been saved for Saturday when I am at boxing for the day with the lads:rotfl:

The clear out was very much needed, managed to declutter the kitchen and organise a little bit, its amazing amount of stuff that is there that hasn't been seen for ages haha.

It was a little bit frustrating but the good thing is the me of 3 months ago would have had to panic and not had the funds to cover it without a bill suffering/missed. This time i had funds there ready to spend on getting it replaced, so did show that I am slowly getting to grips with money despite it coming from funds id planned on a night out.

Boxing has been planned for a while and luckily i have enough to cover it. Although its now made up my mind that i have to drive there and return after the event which isn't the norm. I would normally get taxi back to my brothers and spend night there and then get train/bus back on the Sunday. I guess it will save me money as it will only cost me 10 quid plus parking and a few drinks rather than a full blown night on the beer and transport back and forward.

  • Hi FootyFanDan,

Glad to see you on your journey, seems like you're making headway. I can see you're in a similar position to me and I'm just starting out on my journey too. Would like to know what your spreadsheet looks like as I'm just starting to plan one out now :)

    Good luck!
