I've looked again at the booking and seating and unless they are "ghosting" passengers into seats I don't think its an aircraft change. The aircraft is the Dreamliner 787. Thanks again for your help. I'll post if/when TUI respond.

They can move you at any time

I remember when I came back from Vegas once. We were assigned AB next to the windows about halfway down the plane, once we got to the gate they scanned our boarding cards and they had moved us to the 2nd back row into FG, something to do with weight distribution or something. Not a thing you can do about it if it happens to you.

In theory the captain can come out of the cockpit once you are sat down and force you to move and you have no say in the matter.

Many thanks bradders1983 for the phone no. I'll give it a try.
photome - why is it"crazy" to cancel the whole holiday. You are unaware of the circumstances (which I will not be giving on here). Please refrain from making assumptions about our situation.

I am only saying its crazy to cancel the whole holiday as

    A. you will lose your deposit
    B. seats wont be gteed as even if they reinsate your seat booking they could be changed even once you are on the aircraft.

also you say you booked a window and an ailse , isnt the 787 a 3, 3 ,3 config, if so you will have left an empty seat between you which may be reason for them to move you

No, they are in Premium and I had a look on Seatguru earlier and it is 2-3-2, the only thing that differs between planes is the number of rows.

Thanks, that makes sense given how much the upgrade costs

Hey Bradders, could you re-post all the points other posters have made as OP seems only to be reading your replies and ignoring those that don't tell him what he want to read ;)

I've not paid for the holiday, only a deposit which I wish to be refunded
You may have only paid a deposit for the holiday, but you have contracted for the full amount. An important difference, meaning you will be liable for an amount as set out in the terms and conditions you agreed to when contracting for the holiday should you cancel.

Certainly one way to relax on a plane, I guess.
