So, I went self employed2 years ago. Last year went well and at year end I was looking somewhere to squirrel away that tax that doesn’t have to be paid until Jan 2020. Couldn’t get a good interest rate that would keep the money safe from me for the required time so instead bought premium bonds.
Yesterday I was notified of a £25 win which I will happily take. :j
Fingers crossed that it’s the first of many.

Thank you all, for me this truly is free money. I’m now wondering if I should buy extra each month with anything in excess of drawings and expenses as my business account gives me nothing. The more bonds, the greater chance of the big win.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Well done.
My husband and I bought a number of premium bonds this January. He has had 4 small wins, totalling £125, approximately the same as the interest he would have received in a savings account annually.
And so far, I've won nothing!
I think you stand more chance of winning when you have bigger blocks of bonds. There is a thread higher up the boards, might be worth taking a look.
This is the thread

The MSE article is here (with average luck you will do worse than savings interest)
https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/premium-bonds/
There is a calculator here to see what you could expect to win or see how your luck compares to average based on what you have invested/won
