I've got a real problem currently, not me I know how to give the !!!!!!s short shrift but they're plaguing my mother she's 78 -
They've phoned her 3 times already today saying her computer is infected, her phone is going to be cut off unless she empties her bank account, blah blah the usual garbage -
Its worrying her silly. I tell her its a scam but she only half believes me. Its not the first time they almost managed to empty her bank account previously months ago and they just keep coming back for more. Sooner or later they're probably going to succeed I can see it.
Short of telling her phone BT and ask for advice about blocking numbers etc I'm at my wits end, customer services just don't seem to give it much credence or take it seriously enough -
any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Buy her a BT callblocker phone and set it up for her, since purchasing one two years ago we have not had any of these types of nuisance calls.

Yes, I second that. We installed the BT8500 (uses Truecall technology) over three years ago now and not one nuisance call has got through.0 -

Get a plug-in trueCall device or a handset with trueCall features built in.
There is an active national scheme to issue trueCall units to vulnerable people free of charge. Contact your local council, usually the Trading Standards department, to get started.0 -
I keep getting phone calls supposedly from Virgin saying my service is due to be cut off .I have got now that I have unplugged my phone I have emailed Virgin as getting to talk to a human being at Virgin is impossible.I am and have been on the register for phone call restrictions since my OH passed away 16 years ago I know my bills are paid monthly so I own no one a penny , its a blooming nuisnce and I am really fed up with it0

Those are fake calls from scammers. There is little or nothing Virgin can currently do to stop them, but a trueCall unit would get rid of them.0
