Hi there I am needing some help and advise.. I switched to Eon November 18 as they were apperntly the cheapest according to u switch.. So the direct debit was set at £97 a month grate thats £10 cheaper than the previous supplier . So after Christmas they told me I needed smart meters l.. so they were fitted at the beginning March and was told they were free 🙄 well I could be wrong but I don't think they were free.. Anyway now April came and they told me they were increasing my direct debit to £160 from £90 after many phone calls getting passed about different departments desided to switch back to my previous supplier.. Now today received my final bill and its near £500.. So thats near £1000 for 5 months gas and electricity.. Any advice on what I can do as I don't think this is right 🤔

Meter reading when you started with Eon ? - accurate and actual, same as closing read with old supplier ?
Closing meter read when meter was changed - actual ?
Opening meter read of smart meter - actual ?
    Closing read - accurate ?
Opening meter read with new supplier - actual and same as closing read from Eon?
Any advice on what I can do as I don't think this is right
The above should sort that out.

Tbh I couldn't actually tell you what the meter readings were before they were changed.. But when I switched the details were accurate as I done it the same way I done it in the past and have never been stung like this before

Your final bill from the previous supplier should have the meter readings and your final bill from Eon will give the current reading.

Maybe you could subtract one from the other to give a figure that Eon have based their bill on ?

You should not have been charged for the fitting of a smart meter (i.e. replacing an existing non-smart meter).

How much were you charged? Please show us the bill detailing this charge.

The meter reading of the old meter should be stated on the sticker on the new meter ;)

You should have bills with the figures on, readings should have A, C or E after them. The meter should have a sticker on with the old and new meter reads. If you have not kept track of those then you have little hope of sorting this.
