EE broadband cancellation

Hello
Just received my EE bill for Broadband following cancellation due to £2 price increase. Switched end of last month and now find bill includes early cancellation charge of £45.38.
As far as I was aware no early cancellation charge can be made if cancellation due to price increase during term of contract, is this correct ?
Just found email from EE advising of price increase and no charge for early cancellation if made before 26/6/19 so seems they've made a booby.
Update
Phoned and explained and charge will be refunded.

Just got my bill. Been charged also. Tried phoning up but cant get through. They say there very busy and use other method to contact them. They dont have email address. Ill try tomorrow and they had better brace themselves. They broke the contract, made a offer that was the same as my old price, so it was them trying it on. You can now join as a new customer at my old price with a £120 cash back.
I got a much better deal which saves me a lot of money. 5 year standing customer gone for good.0 -
You must follow the instructions in the price rise email .
Namely to contact the ISP and tell them you are cancelling due to price rise .
Just swapping ISP is going to a cancellation of a valid contract .0 -
JJ Egan. I had phoned them and done exactly what they said on there email. But the guy I spoke to did seem a bit iffy and didnt fill me with confidence.
Just spoke to them. Nice customer service woman but it took alongtime to sort out. They have made mistake and are issuing new bill. Instead of me paying them £50. They now owe me £3.
Had very similar issues many years ago with NTL. They set the debt collectors on me when they owed me money. It didnt end well for them.0 -

Spoke to customer services after queuing for about 15 minutes and was told that a refund would be issued to my account. I explained that they were told the reason I cancelled was due their £2 per month price increase, it seemed to me that they were trying to get out of refunding the early payment charge. A new bill has now been received and the early payment charge refunded.0
