There are rats etc which are bigger then my cats that come in and out of the overgrown area, but I am not sure if this would be sufficient to get them to clear it.

He might be prepared to lend you some serious tools for the job turning it from a few days to a few hours.

A patch near us if you cut down the 12ft buddleia and brambles it would not look too bad over the fences
