I have Kaspersky Internet Security. I've recently received this message...
"Restart Required, your computer needs to be restarted in order to finish setting up this device: Kaspersky Lab Power events provider"
I've never received this message before and Googling for clarification has not been that helpful.
Since I'm not sure what it's meant to do I've actually disabled it.
Can anybody shed light on what it is meant to do please?
Thank you.

Many solutions available via Google. Here for instance.
It's a legitimate component of Kaspersky.0 -
Thanks for all the answers. Since I've disabled it and my laptop seems to be working fine without it, do I actually need it?0

What is IT ??the update .
Its only your security that has not been updated and presumably at some stage you have turned your laptop off .0 -
You don't necessarily need KIS. You could use built-in Windows Defender (assuming you have Windows 10 here), and then use Malwarebytes Anti Malware (MBAM). It depends on whether or not you need the additional features offered by KIS.
I have the Enterprise version of MBAM which means it runs in the background (similar to what KIS was doing); the free version only scans when you manually ask it to.0 -

I don't use win defender as I can not see any way of turning it on or even updating it.
Any ideas about this?0 -

Only if you are not bothered if your laptop gets infected by any viruses, the whole idea of antivirus protection is exactly what it says, if you have disabled Kaspersky and have no other antivirus running then you have no protection.0
