Car Insurance Cancelled

Hi,
My car insurance recently got cancelled and they’ve given me a week before it gets cancelled. Now obviously for my age (20) it’s going to be extremely expensive if not impossible to insure my car again. So a few have suggested that I cancel the insurance myself before the company do. I was just wondering if this would work or if there are any other ways.
Thanks

What was the reason for cancellation? Some cancellations are more trivial, such as for non-payment and others are show stoppers such as intentional non-disclosure or fraud.
Some insurers won't be bothered at all by the former, although you won't be able to get quotes online.0 -
'A Few' are a notoriously poor source of advice. If your underwriter has given you notice to cancel you cannot override this. You will not be able to 'beat them to it' by cancelling yourself.
You need to share the reason why your insurance was cancelled if you want informed advice in your options going forward. Do not make the mistake of forgetting to tell any new insurer that you have had a policy cancelled.0 -
The reason was for speeding on one occasion which understandably is why they’ve cancelled, but was just wondering if I was to cancel before hand would it go unnoticed0

Did they cancel because of the speeding or because you didn't tell them?0

I have never heard of a policy being cancelled because of speeding. Black box? How far over the limit were you? First time or regular offender?0 -

Because of the speeding, nothing to do with me not telling them0

It was a one time offence of 100mph and according to their policy they can cancel it whenever they want if the speed limit has been broken0
-
Don't answer if you don't want to, but who's the insurer?0

I thought 100mph or more speeding was an automatic ban now ?
And 4-6 points , if you had your licence less than 2 years isn't 6 points also a ban ?
