He was not accepted for a Barclaycard.
He was accepted for the MBNA card, which offers 12 months on the Money Transfer (4% fee).
So pulling figures out of the air for a card that he never had, misses the point completely.
The point was that he could have used the Money Transfer component of the MBNA card for which he was accepted, at a cost of £56 for the year. Not the best, but better than nothing and at least the holiday would be secured.
He is not interested in a Money Transfer card per se. Why would he want to pay 4%?
Given the choice, he would want one with a 0% Purchase component. Since they have no fees at all(as opposed to taking a Money Transfer).
Apart from anything else, you have not been able to produce an example of a card with a 28 month Money Transfer component. So clearly you were wrong about that, but just prefer to argue.
Of course it makes a difference as to whether it is 12 months or 28 months. 28 months means you have longer to spread the payments out free of interest..
Even the post of the OP's to which you replied acknowledged it was 12 months.
So slow down and try to get the gist of the thread before posting and subsequently spouting abuse at others.0 -
MBNA off per a 28 month money transfer card at 0%, here it is:

So you definitive "MBNA only offer........" is codswallop.I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0 -

Once again, that isn't the card for which he applied nor the one that he received.
In addition, you fail to note the fees associated with a Money Transfer. With the card to which you have linked, it is; 2.99% for 28 months reverting to 5%.
So there would be no point in applying for a Money Transfer card over a Purchase card, since he will be paying 2.99% of the spend for no good reason.
The only reason we have written here about a Money Transfer, was to alert the OP to the fact that the card for which he was accepted and that he received and activated, had the 12 month Money Transfer component that he could have utilised in the event of nothing else being available.
I hope that it is clear to you now. The inexperienced depend on the experienced here, to give them good advice.0 -
I would be interested for anyone to justify why they would suggest a Money Transfer costing perhaps 2.99% as opposed to a 0% Purchase product costing nothing.
Why would it be a pity that the OP did not apply for a 28 month Money Transfer product, as opposed to the 0% 27/28 month Purchase product that they actually wanted?
So 'the pity' is that they did not understand that they also had a 12 month Money Transfer at their disposal.
So the suggestion of a 28 month Money Transfer product is irrelevant in every scenario and is likely to confuse someone with no experience.0
