Just to complete the thread, I've now been using the computer for 2 days and it's working very well. JL called me back about the missing accessory and we've agreed that I'll buy it myself, which I've done on Amazon for £7.99, and JL will refund what I've paid for it. So it looks like everything has worked out in the end.
