Patch of grass...

Hi all,
Very exciting topic- ownership of a patch of grass!
In between my drive and the neighbours, theres a patch of grass. Both houses use this to put their bins out on collection day only.
My issue is that the neightbour keeps putting our bins on to our drive once they've been emptied but this is while we are at work. This causes a bit of a safety issue as we live off of a very busy road thats got a 50 speed limit and where he is putting them means sometimes we have to push the bins with our car as we couldn't possibly get out to move the bins! I've tried speaking to them but they've got a gated drive and wont answer!!
Before I go all guns blazing, I want to know who owns the land. I assumed it would either be owned by the council or that we would both have a share as my fence would run through part of it if it was extended.
Can anyone help?

Are you sure it's the neighbour?

Our bin men are pretty good but they are random at putting bins back where they should be!

you need to create a free account to https://app.nimbusmaps.co.uk/Lookup

you should then hopefully see a plan of your location it might help give you an idea.

Otherwise you will need to buy the title plan and documents for next door and compare them with your own home from the land registry https://eservices.landregistry.gov.uk/eservices/FindAProperty/view/QuickEnquiryInit.do

Other than that ask the neighbour.

How do you know it is the neighbours who move the bins?

We have a shared drive and our bins together with our neighbours bins go out on bin day along our wall. The neighbour is a business so there are a lot of bins. Most weeks the bin men leave the empty bins across the drive - completely blocking it for any of us. If we were not at home I guess we could make an assumption that the neighbours do this to !!!! us off - but we have seen the binmen. It is their (sick) idea of a joke.

On bin day, I either get home to three bins on my driveway, or none. They ALWAYS get put onto my driveway by the collectors. It does mean leaving my car in the middle of a busy street and moving them to pull out of the way. First resident home, usually puts all three back into their places (i.e. three neighbouring houses. All have their own drives, but mine seems to be the designated bin house).

Thanks for the replies! It is the neighbours as theres been a couple of occasions where the binmen have been early and I've been in too much of a rush to bring them in before work.. we've come home to them placed on the drive. Another occasion they'd been to get the recycling but not the rubbish and we've come home to both lots in the drive as I figured I'd wait and bring them both in. Our next door neighbour has also confirmed the culprits as spotted it happening once!
We always move them as soon as we are home from work and the bins are on the very edge of the grass so we arent taking the mick!
Will look into the land registry. I got our documents out but they're not very clear!

Great tip tom9980- I've had a look and it's not within either boundaries.
Thanks for your help. This will help me have a constructive discussion with them if I'm ever able to catch them!

Maybe they think they are being neighbourly by bringing them onto your drive for you

This was my thought too so perhaps better to thank them for bringing them in and explain why you would prefer them not to. Definitely one for GM's tea and cake approach!

Yes, was planning on approaching this like they think they're being helpful...
It's possible they think they're being helpful but as they're putting the bins just off of the grass onto my drive (which is quite narrow) I think it's almost certainly to make a point

Have you ever been lazy and left them out? Just once could have really cheeze them off?

Maybe they just think its a safety hazard pulling out the drive way.

    Hard to visualize without photos.
