There wasn't anything ever physically put on the vehicle as far as i know.

Have you got the postal NTK, as you can tell from that if they are talking about a previous PCN that was 'served' to the driver/the car?

If not, wait for the SAR as long as you don't overrun the defence deadline.

Is this George Street Car park Sheffield? If not, where, which Hotel and site name?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

NO, no NTK, and the SAR hasn't arrived yet, so i will press on without it.

The car park is just marked here as Albert Street in Birmingham. So i guess the hotel was probably the Travelodge there but not 100% on that.

Any chance you can point me at some potentially relevant threads to read through please?

...you have until 4pm on Wednesday 19th June 2019 to file your Defence.

Two days to go and no sign of a Defence yet?

There are over a dozen Defence examples linked from post #2 of the NEWBIES thread. Pay particular attention to those concise Defences by Bargepole.

Unfortunately i work about 14 hrs a day 6 days a week and this kept getting put off in the hope the SAR info would arrive to help.

The big news is that I have found a folder of company receipts from that quarter that i couldn't find before. In it are the 2 pay and display stubbs from the day before the alleged offence. Over £12 spent around 8pm, with the parking fine being issued around 6am the following morning (Sunday), before the ticket expired. This should be case closed.

Ok so here's my defence, i probably could have done this a lot sooner if we'd have found the ticket earlier!

    ________________________________________
    DEFENCE
    ________________________________________

    1. The Defendant denies that the Claimant is entitled to relief in the sum claimed, or at all.

    2. The facts are that the vehicle, registration LC61WLG, of which the Defendant is the registered keeper, was parked in Albert Street car park by a 3rd party, and that the Defendant was neither driving nor present.

    3. A parking fee of £12.50 was paid in cash at one of the machines on site at xx:xx on the xxth February 2007. The pay and display ticket was displayed clearly in the window of the vehicle XXXXX with an expiry time and date of xxxxxx. (this date and time is after the time of the "offence")

    4. The original Pay and display ticket has now been found and can be presented as proof of payment, and therefore of the invalidity of the claimants claim.

I believe the facts contained in this Defence are true.

    That's not a defence.

You were not meant to write your own thing from scratch. You need to read other defence examples from the NEWBIES thread for you to copy and adapt.
The car park is just marked here as Albert Street in Birmingham.
So, when you Googled that and the word parking you presumably found the Parking Prankster blogs telling you all about the signage issue here with VCS and Excel having cases struck out? Please do.

All you need is to copy another Albert Street defence, there are several here, you could search for them & adapt it to suit, as long as you don't copy an old one.

Forgive my ignorance, but why is explaining that I have a receipt to prove that the parking was fully paid for not a defence?

No problem though; I will dig out an existing Albert street one. It hadn't occurred to me to find a defence specific to this particular car park, no. I was looking for defences more specific to my circumstances, since the location seemed comparatively trivial.

Are you saying that I should not mention the fact that i have proof that the parking fee was paid and therefore the fine was given out mistakenly or in wilful ignorance of the fee being paid?

See #11 above for advice on how to find a defence you can crib from,
