  • £6K is a great reduction.

Impressed with your rewards pot. I've had £2.50 so far ;) Slight contrast...

  • I think with the Asda Rewards pot I've been lucky in that I've hit the milestone missions as they have certainly boosted the points - earned nothing when I went today!

So, on the job front next Monday had been provisionally mentioned but with the added bank holiday and 1 of my clearance checks not being back it's looking like it may be midweek or even the week after. The employer has been in regular contact and even apologised for the delay. They can't authorise my IT equipment needed for the job without the clearance being fully completed so it's just a waiting game, they're going to update me on Tuesday, so fingers crossed for good news.

This week has been largely taken up by DS being quite challenging. It's all linked to him being exhausted from doing full days at school and him being such an early riser (6am is classed as a lie in as far as he's concerned  ) He's an argumentative and defiant little so and so at the best of times so by the time you throw in him being overtired he's like a little volcano erupting every half an hour, I try to keep calm but my patience has just about run out so he's had shouty Mummy quite a few times this week  :(

DS1 equally tired but can regulate his emptions more, he's just been hiding out in his bedroom while DS2 kicks off. Oh the joys!!! Here's hoping we have a quieter weekend.

On the money front, I've done quite well with Prolific and Vinted this week, free money pot for September currently stands at £137.29. Keeping this money in a separate pot for now, not earmarked for anything at the moment.

In preparation for the new job, I've ordered a few smarter work wear items from Vinted for days when I'm out and about for the new job. Ordered 10 items from 2 sellers which included trousers, jumpers, dresses and a smarter handbag for a total of £31 so I'm hoping they'll form a small capsule work wardrobe if they all fit/look as described. Worst case scenario I can list them for sale again if they're not suitable.

Hoping to have a quiet weekend again, the boys will have their swimming lesson in the morning and we're hoping to spend some time on Sunday with DH's brother and his family. Definitely sticking with DS2's bedtime routine though, need him in a good routine a.s.a.p.

Hope everyone else is well x

    Sounds like great clothing bargains.

Hope the long weekend helps your DS

Sorry to hear about DS2 kicking off, my DS is exhausted by the end of the week and cries over absolutely silly things and loses the plot as soon as he doesn't get his own way! DD then joins in the crying just because. 🤦‍♀️ I was very shouty the other night as he was refusing to get ready for bed/wash his hands after using the toilet/brush his teeth and just being an absolute pain. I felt bad afterwards, I know I had no patience because I was tired too!

Good idea to get some work clothes on v!nted, there are some good bargains on there.

  • I'm still waiting on the Vinted parcels, not a fan of the new in-post service they offer as it seems very slow. I sent a parcel via the same service, and it seems to have gone missing so I'm not holding out too much hope of receiving the items I ordered any time soon. May need to buy a couple of back up items...

DS2 continues to be challenging although there have been pockets of calm amongst his outbursts, really hope he settles down soon. We did have a quiet bank holiday weekend. Both boys had a good swimming lesson, can see a little progress already. They also had an optician appointment on Saturday, DS1 has to go back for further tests as they think he may be long sighted. The rest of the weekend was spent either in the house or in the garden so as relaxed as we could make it for the children.

Have spoken with both boys' teachers yesterday as the school held an information session for parents and they're both settling in well and coping with the increase in learning they both have so that's something positive to hold on to. We're taking DS1 to an open evening for a junior school next week as we need to apply for a place for next September within the next few weeks, so we are trying to find the one that's the best fit for him.

I'm going on the payroll for the new job from tomorrow but won't be able to do much as they have only ordered my IT equipment today. I'm meeting the team in person on Monday so that will be my first 'official' duty. Then it will be the fun of learning the new systems, that will keep me busy for a few weeks!

Free money pot for September is up to £152.39, I'm continuing to keep this to one side now but I think it might be used for a float for any costs associated with the new job as my first pay day won't be until the end of October but I will need to put fuel in the company car when I receive it and may have parking costs, etc to pay which I'll have to pay upfront until I can put an expense claim in.

Dancing the inpost system seems to have gone haywire since they changed to QR codes instead of address labels. I have 3 or 4 parcels that I sent through inpost that have disappeared into the ether!

I have heard that v!nted have removed it as a postage option for now until they sort themselves out. I took it off on my settings anyway as don’t want anything else disappearing.

Hope DS2 finds more pockets of calmness!

Good luck with the new job, I’m sure you’ll do well anyway.

  • At least it's not just me but still annoying! Great idea to adjust delivery settings, I'll do that too.

Thanks for the good luck wishes x

Busy week since I last logged in! Busy few days getting to grips with the job and the 4 of us being in a new routine with me being back in work but we're getting there! DS2 seems to be settling down too, I think the fact that the boys now go to breakfast club at 8am means he's quite happy just to relax when he gets out of school instead of causing chaos. He certainly seems to be sleeping better, hope it lasts.

Still waiting on my IT equipment for the job as the things that were made available to me actually need reconfigured so I am doing a lot of reading about processes and online training about systems I can't physically access yet, a bit frustrating but out of my control and my manager is telling me to enjoy the calm before the storm of working at full throttle!

I travelled with my manager (who I know from a previous job) to meet my team on Monday, including senior management. This was also a performance meeting so I got a good understanding of where my attention will be focused in the future. Everyone was very welcoming, and it seems to be a good cohesive team, despite most of the time working remotely, lots of good vibes.

I've got some intensive training this afternoon and tomorrow so have been told to take it easy this morning, hence a quick check in on here

Going to do an end of month money update and new signature in my next post as DH gets paid on Friday and no further debt payments will be made before then. Unlikely to generate any free money in the next day or 2 either so closing September's pot at £184.96.

Really looking forward to my first pay day in 30 days, what a difference that will make for us. Feeling very lucky.

Hope everyone else is well x
