Been out of action for a few days, tested positive for Covid and have been absolutely wiped by it. Thankfully DH had some flexi he could use and has been a star sorting the boys while I've been out of action.

DS1's arm continues to heal well, DH took him to the fracture clinic and it all looks good, hopefully the cast will come off in 2 weeks time.

Free money has already reached £81.65 for July thanks to Shoppiz, Micro$oft rewards, Cha$e rewards, Pro!ific and V!nted. Have a few more V!nted sales waiting to clear and have managed to list a few more items too.

I found a few small pieces of jewelry, not sure if they're gold or silver but have requested a bag from Hatton Garden Metals as I thought it would be worth a try after my success with them earlier in the year.

We had a small win on monthly outgoings as our mortgage payment has reduced by almost £5 a month as the mortgage company have finally taken into account the last lump sum payment we made in February.

We are also now out of our energy fix  our account is currently £253 in credit, the suggested monthly payments are £190 but I have just increased to £149 for now as part of my smaller monthly increases I've been doing since March.

Finally I've found a job I really want to apply for. It meets a lot of my wish list & is hybrid working and comes with a company car so a couple of big ticks there too. My potential line manager is someone I've worked for before and really respect. I had an informal chat with her last week which went well but have then been too wiped with Covid to apply. I have slowly been tailoring my CV and now I'm back on my feet will look to apply before the closing date next week. No guarantees I know but this is the first job I've seen since leaving my last job that has got me feeling like "I can't let this opportunity pass me by" so that alone merits an application.

Sorry to hear about you catching covid, one of my friends has been quite ill with it recently too.

Fingers crossed for the new job application.

  • Thank you for the well wishes, I'm still testing positive and feeling exhausted but plodding on. DH and the boys have managed to avoid it so far too, I hope it stays that way. I still have my sense of taste and smell but have no appetite at all, I've been eating enough to keep me going but honestly couldn't care less if I had anything or not, most unlike me!

DH and the boys all off to a scout camp today so I've got a day to myself. I prepared a picnic lunch and plenty of drinks for them all to take and then I've spent a couple of hours on the job application, it's quite in-depth so I'm breaking it down in to smaller chunks. I'm hoping the detail required will deter some candidates from applying  :D If I do a little each day I'll easily have it all ready for submission ahead of the deadline on Friday. Also have a load of washing pegged out as it's glorious here.

HGM offered me £141.97 for the jewelry which I happily accepted  also cashed out £5.53 from Pro!ific and £1 from V!nted  meaning July free money total is now £230.15

It also occurred to me that I may have paid too much tax last year with leaving work in August so logged on to my HMRC account and sure enough I was due a refund. Only £47.60 but better in my pocket than theirs, just waiting on this hitting my bank account.

Hope everyone reading/lurking  ;) is well xx

Well done on the jewellery sales. You are doing so well. Great news on the tax refund too. Better in your pocket.

  • Hello hello, how is it Friday already?

I've had a confusing week where all the days seem to have merged or felt out of sync. DS1 tested positive for Covid on Sunday and had a very poorly 3 days so he and I have been sharing my bedroom while DH and DS2 hid away from us and shared the boys bedroom. It seems to have worked as DH and DS2 remain Covid free, just hope it stays that way. DS1 is much better now but is sad he's had to have more time off school as he loves it, he's also feeling a little hard done by the fact he has Covid AND a broken arm, poor love.

I tested negative on Monday and my sense of taste and smell came back then too but I've felt so lethargic and lacking in appetite so between that and looking after DS1 I've not got a lot done. I did however manage to complete the job application I started at the weekend so that's been submitted now, the closing date has been extended so I'm not expecting to hear anything until next month.

In money news the tax refund came in, so did £25 from 1poll, £7.32 from V!nted, £12.91 from Pro!ific and £3.66 Cha$e rewards taking July's free money total up to £326.64.

We've decided to use this money to have a short break in the summer holidays and have booked 4 nights in Western Scotland late Aug/early Sep. It'll be a nice break for the 4 of us and we're all looking forward to it. We're self catering so will be able to keep spends relatively low while we're away plus we don't have to worry about our fussy children being fed as we'll take plenty of bits we know they'll eat with us  :D

Sorry you and DS have both been ill. I had covid too - it's definitely doing the rounds currently.

A trip away sounds like just what the doctor ordered... Fab.

  • Pleased to report I've had some energy today, first day in a while I haven't needed a nap so I'm calling that a win!

Hot but breezy here so we've had a lazy day in the garden and I've been busy making a few things to pop in the fridge for easy meals over the next 2 days - big batch of tuna & veg pasta, bread rolls, boiled eggs, chopped lots of fruit & veg as well as roasting a ham in the slow cooker before shredding it and covering in BBQ sauce. Feels good that there's lots of bits we can just grab as needed.

Today's efforts easily outweigh the amount of things I've achieved in the last 2 weeks 😂 hope this means I'm starting to get back on track 🤞

DS1 still looking exhausted so apart from attending a birthday party yesterday afternoon I've just let him laze around as much as possible so hopefully he'll be fine at school for the next couple of days, our school finishes for summer Wednesday lunchtime so he only has 2.5 days to get through x
