Barclaycard admit mis selling me PPI but say I’m not owed anything.

I’ve received a letter today from Barclaycard stating they are sorry to have mis sold PPI on my Barclaycard. It then goes on to say that my complaint has been up held. It says no premiums were received but I always had money on my credit card so find this hard to believe. Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you pay statement balance in full every month?0

Yes. Lots of people. its an easy uphold for the card provider as there is nothing to refund.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). You'll need documentary evidence that your card always had a balance AFTER the interest free period every month. You'll also need documentary evidence that you went on to pay PPI. Without this evidence, all you can do is accept that you never paid any PPI despite signing up for it.It says no premiums were received but I always had money on my credit card so find this hard to believe.
As poster above, "upholding" your complaint without actually having to refund you anything improves their complaint statistics with no cost.0 -
Thanks everyone for your replies. Looks like I will just have to accept they’re not going to pay up as I have no evidence as this was nearly 20 years ago. So frustrating! How do others get money without evidence? Just guess I must be an unlucky one.0

They rely on the Bank's records. How do others get money without evidence?
In your case, the Bank's records do not show you having paid any PPI and you have no evidence to refute this.
Rather than being "unlucky" it appears there is nothing to refund simply because you didn't pay anything in the first place.0 -
A friend of mine has had £20000 with no evidence for any of it. Hence why I decided to claim for mine.0

The bank will have had evidence of it.
They don't just hand out 20k randomly.0 -
The point you seem to be missing is that the complainant only requires his or her own evidence if the Bank has none or if the Bank's findings are in question.A friend of mine has had £20000 with no evidence for any of it.
You'll never receive a "refund" of money you never paid. Your friend clearly did pay (a lot) of PPI and has been refunded with interest.
You weren't "unlucky", you just didn't pay anything.0 -
So how did I not pay anything when they say I was missold and had debt on the card. I never ever paid the full balance off. Never have with any credit cards. My friend had no evidence same as me. But collectively claimed £20k it seems some banks are tougher than others obviously and Barclaycard know majority of people will not have evidence dating back that far so it’s an easy way out.0
