You may have cancelled it.
It may not have been correctly charged.
It may have been given free for a period and then you chose not to pay for it.
Or any other reason.
I'm sure you and you friend have a lot of things in common, but your credit card usage and PPI purchase are almost certainly not one of them.
It's very trendy these days to believe that the bank is hiding your perceived refund from you behind their back, but it's not based in reality.0 -
So how did I not pay anything when they say I was missold and had debt on the card. I never ever paid the full balance off. Never have with any credit cards. My friend had no evidence same as me. But collectively claimed £20k it seems some banks are tougher than others obviously and Barclaycard know majority of people will not have evidence dating back that far so it’s an easy way out.
I think your paranoia about Banks and how they handle PPI complaints is misplaced.Millions of people have been refunded their PPI without having to supply evidence.
I would have more sympathy for your plight if the Bank were saying they have no record of your finance, but they plainly do.
Regardless, your friend may well have received £20K but that does not mean you will (or should).
If you continue to be unhappy about the unfairness of not receiving a refund of money you never paid in the first place, you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman. The Bank will then send their evidence for the independent arbiter to adjudicate. However, expect nothing and you won't be disappointed.0 -

Barclaycard have an excellent reputation on PPI complaints. They have gone out of their way to bring back non-computerised records onto their systems when others have not bothered.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
