TV Licence and Council Tax won't let me pick DD date

Options
These are the only two that I cannot get to be changed to coincide with my pay date. They only allow specific dates. Is this the norm for everyone else?

Yup, in my experience, they always decide when payment is due.

Similar. I wanted 26th, they only have 1st, 8th, 15th or 25th. I like all my bills/savings out on pay day.

    Recipe for disaster!

Much better a week or so later in case there are problems with the BACS system (as has happened in recent times), thereby giving you chance to fund the bills account from your emergency fund account.

Circa 19.9% EAR or up to £3 per day?

What's the interest rate on your emergency fund account?

You would be better off opening another account such as a Santander 123 Lite account to get cashback on your Direct Debits. The setup a standing order to pay the amount required to cover all your bills.

You can then have your council tax coming out on the 1st for example a few days after your paid.
