An MP wants to know about your experiences of Universal Credit
UKParliament
According to Ruth George, Labour MP for High Peak: “There’s growing evidence that people on Universal Credit are falling behind with bills and rent, and getting into debt because they can’t get by. Most claimants are also seeing money deducted from their claim to pay back an advance or unpaid bills, and that makes it harder to make ends meet.”
On 5th June she will be leading a debate in Westminster Hall on Universal Credit and debt. She’ll be putting her case to a minister for the Department of Work and Pensions, and wants to know about your experiences to inform her speech:
• Do you or people you know find it difficult to get by on Universal Credit?
• What impact does this have on you and your family?
• Have you had deductions from your Universal Credit claim, and do you feel they’re fair?
Tell her about your experiences on this thread before midday on 4th June. If you prefer, you could submit your response through our Facebook post or private platform.
We'll post links to watch the debate and read the transcript when they become available.

Just like the civil servants who deal with adminstering UC day to day are.
The system is a shambles and staff are poorly trained and over worked.
Wasn't there a strike today by civil servants regarding this matter?0 -
My wife, just gave up her reception job (for free) at the CAB. It became too heart breaking for her.
All Ruth needs to do is sit in the reception at her nearest CAB and listen to the tales of woe.0
