Hahaha Aylesbury, mega idea!
I tried knocking again last night whilst both cars were on the front but they didn't answer so think a note and biscuits it is0 -
@rosieskitt interested to know how you're getting on. How did the note / biscuits go down with the neighbours?0

At the end of the day if they said no we won't ever be putting a fence up, would you not want the privacy and put one up anyway?
A bit spineless for them to go along with it if they could not afford it and then let dad sort it out.
Do they use the garden, and enjoy the privacy? Maybe they are just that sort of people.
Did you give them a 14 day cool off ? lol joke.0 -
Hey guys,
I actually knocked on their door last Friday as both cars were home. Before I could speak they couldn't apologise enough for their Dad knocking on and said they had no idea he had come round until they could hear him.
We've given them the invoice for the timber and they have agreed to pay half in installments.
All's well that end's well... thanks for all your advice and tips you lovely lot.0 -
Out of interest how many 6ft bays(length) was the fence and cost of materials? Asking as here in London you can get from £29 a 6ft panel to £200 a panel. Posts are similar.
So you can see why someone might feel bullied. We paid about £1500 for about 22m of executive fencing done in wood and concrete including labour etc We didn’t ask contributions from neighbours. Other neighbour did this with cheaper fence about 1/2 price, didn’t ask for contributions.
In my former house I did it diy and didn’t ask for contributions. The issue is it’s strategically cheaper to put in a fence at your own cost to prevent land grabbers.
Always secure your boundaries, you can live without heating for a year but you will find it very hard to recover stolen land.0 -

Hmmm too early to celebrate. No money yet and you have given them the proof of purchase. Can you now prove it’s your fence?0 -
Maybe so, however I feel better just for clearing the air about his Dad coming over so small steps.0

It's strange that they didn't come to you to apologise if they thought Dad had overstepped the mark but waited until you sought them out.
I hope they do pay as they have agreed but I wouldn't be surprised if it never happens.
Also, be prepared for Dad to share his thoughts on the matter when he finds out they've agreed to pay up.0
