So we are on to our second buyer now and the rest of the chain are just waiting on us.
he is buying our searches and has a survey booked for midweek on this.
he is ready to proceed asap as is renting out his current property.
anyone got similar situation or want to hazard a guess time wise.
would it be crazy to think 5 or 6 weeks is a possibility to complete?

Impossible to say.
The average time between a complete chain and completion is around 12 weeks.0 -
impossible... I've done it in a week, but my last one beginning of this year , no chain, no finance and empty house took 13 weeks0
-
Why do people ask this question every week or two?
Every case is different. It will take between 1 week and 1 year.0 -
I hoped for 6 weeks with our second buyer, but has been 8 weeks so far and no date for exchange set yet0
-
You want my time line? Really? Are you sure? Really sure?
OK then, it was 16 months of 'on and off,' just like Widow Twankey's knickers in the pantomime it became. Four 'buyers' altogether, and then when we sold there was b_ gger all to buy, so we rented for 9 months! Sold for 16% under the first agreed price too.
Of course, that was long ago, back in the days of extreme uncertainty in the Crash of '08., not like now, when the country knows exactly where it's going.....;)
Eh? What was that? I'm slightly deaf. Who's Helena Handcart? :huh:0 -
it is just good to hear of stories that are quick and slow and in between as its nice to see similar examples.
im just i suppose trying to see where delays could occur with everyone pretty much good to go apart from our buyer getting survey done etc as searches are done
time will tell of course.
could be a long road but good to get talking to people in similar situations. i know well there is not one answer on it0 -
If only we had a dedicated thread for this kind of thing....:oseptemberbaby wrote: »it is just good to hear of stories that are quick and slow and in between as its nice to see similar examples.

Cash buyer, no chain, buying a vacant house, no house to sell took 5 months. You just can't tell.0

I'd like to add to these. Current purchase, no chains on either side, vacant house, mortgage offer in hand at the end of January - we're coming up June and we still haven't exchanged - you really can't tell.
We had an issue with our water search saying the house wasn't connected to mains drainage - spoiler alert: it was, queue several months to get this rectified with the water board.
We had an issue with the boiler not functioning when we viewed a few months on (fair enough as the house had been vacant for several months).
We then had an issue with a restriction not being dealt with (innocent enough but it wasn't looked into by the solicitors until last week as the final hurdle).
None of these suggest any foul play on the part of the seller. I remember naive me in January pushing for a March completion!Know what you don't0 -
I asked our solicitor the same, for minimum timescales if all went well. She said, IIRC, that if things go smoothly and there are no delays, it usually takes about 6-8 weeks from when she gets the contract package.0
