in Credit cards
I had a balance with M & s more credit card of £1400 and i have just payed it off in full .I have rang up to ask to do a balance transfer as the £1400 which i have just paided off was on a 3.9 for the life of the balance but seen as i owe nothing on it now i thought they would be able to tranfer a balance which i have with LLoyds .The computers are actually down today but when i asked the lady what rate could i have she said none i could not do a balance tranfer .
I have no idea why i think it was a call centre who i spoke to today ,i have always managed my account well .I have a limit of £ 6000 and owe nothing ,any ideas why they would not let me do a balance transfer ?

I guess you are out of the six month period?Transfer any current credit card ............................... within the first six months"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

But that relates to the 3.9% APR LOB offer, which the OP has now repaid. OP has now asked them for the current (best) rate they could offer him (to transfer another balance)...presumably he was hoping for a better rate than their typical 18.9% APR.Per Terms and Conditions I guess you are out of the six month period?0 -
thanks for the replys when i rang them yesterday the lady said there was no balance transfer available ,she said it in a way that meant i would not beable to do a balance tranfer at all .I have never been refused a balance transfer before they have always been delighted in the past that you are putting a extra balance on there card .
I wondered if anyone else had experienced this ?0 -
how long have you had the card ? most cards only offer bt within the 1st six months. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

May be because you are out of the 6 month period or it could be because of your generic credit score obtained from one of the credit reference agencies.
A while ago I tried to do a BT to Barclaycard and was refused because there were no offers available at that moment in time. However when I pressed the matter further I was told my score was very low that they obtained from Equifax. I hasten to add this was because of stoozing I applied for a few cards in a short period of time.
Now I find they have automatically raised my credit limt and have offered 6.9
lob and 0%.0 -

OP was asking why he/she was refused and it is probably as I said.
To put it another way AFAIK, M&S only offer BT for the first six months:rotfl: "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I would have thought the "lady" would have said you can only do this within six months of opening the account. Also somewhat confused as to why you would have wanted to pay off the 3.9% so quickly when it is for the lob transfer. You now want to do another transfer so rather than paying the M&S off surely it would have been more sensible to pay the other card off first. Of course I am assuming this is higher than the 3.9% that M&S offer.0 -
Try calling again? - it could be as simple a reason as you could not do a balance transfer then as their computer systems were down at that time..

the T & C clearly state bt are to be done within 6 months of opening the account ,the computers being down wont alter this. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
OP has not confirmed that it is more than six months, but if so he could simply open another BT card with a.n.other CC company.
Likewise, I do not understand why he paid off the balance?"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
