Out of Contract
My wife has just tried to cancel a mobile wifi we had through EE. Unfortunately the call taker couldn't understand her as she has a severe speech impediment as a result of a neurological condition. The account is now locked because the security questions were apparently answered incorrectly.
I was passed the phone by a very upset wife, and I said I'd just stop paying for the thing and cancel it that way as it was out of contract anyway, and this give rise to my question: As I'm out of contract is it correct that stopping paying will affect my credit rating? That's what EE told me on the phone.

Don’t do that for the reason you say.
Send a letter. Or maybe online chat0 -
Is it not worth getting you added as a person the network provider can speak to.
As for your question I wouldnt cancel the DD, type a letter or get your wife to use the chat option.
As flr the credit rating, only you can see this, lenders see your history.0 -

I am already named on the account, but EE would only speak to the main person.
I've already written a letter but I was just intrigued by the notion of having to continue to pay for a lapsed contract
It’s not a lapsed contract as there is no end date to a mobile contract. You have simply passed the end of the minimum term and should you wish to terminate you need to give 30 days notice.
You will be in a world of credit file pain if you have a tantrum and just cancel the direct debit.====0 -

MSE should create a sticky and put this at the top of The Phones & TV Board and all 3 sub forums.0
