Dentist asking for payment from September 2015

So what? You've not spoken to them so you don't know if they can provide you with the evidence or not. There's no point being awkward with people on here, we don't have to advise you but you seem to think you can get away with not paying so on you go.
Thank you for that rather hostile response. The complete opposite of what I thought this forum was about.
Edit just looked at your previous posts and you do appear to be a rather unpleasant and unhelpful poster.Greta_Sharbo wrote: »Why not phone them? You could have the answer in the next 10 minutes.
They wanted the request in writing but haven't got back to me yet. Do they have to provide the information?Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

Fair enough - one of your previous posts gave the impression you have not yet contacted bank. The bank will provide the info, might take a week or two though. Tell the dentist you are investigating and that you will be in touch again once you have gathered the info you need.0

Sorry about that, I hadn't originally and I can see how it would have read that way.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

This won't be seen as a helpful reply, but why haven't you got statements from 2015? I keep mine for at least six years.
Especially important if you change banks! Different situation, but I changed banks for my current account years ago and only discovered* that one of my annual DDs hadn't transferred when my old bank told me a year later that my old account had gone overdrawn.
* I think if I'd checked the paperwork from my new bank properly, I'd have noticed before it became a problem.0 -

Good question
I had switched to online only and paperless so i didn't have hard copies of the statements. I had downloaded these before I switched banks but stupidly only had copies saved to one pc. The pc then died. I know I should have had back ups hindsight being a wonderful thing and all that.
I did check when I moved banks that all the current SO and DD went through but by then this one had ended.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

It doesn't take hindsight to know you need backups of any important data, it's common knowledge.
But out of interest do you backup your important files now?0 -

Thank you for stating the bleeding obvious I feel so much better.

OK - it's one of the reasons I dislike online banking and prefer paper.
I keep backups of what important documents I have on my laptop on two USBs which I rotate. But I'm not very diligent at keeping to a backup schedule! But I keep paper copies of the really important stuff.0 -

It depends what you asked for. If you simply asked for statements then they don't have to provide them, and if they do they could levy a charge for it. But if you submit a Subject Access Request they are required to respond to that within 1 month and can't normally charge for it, but they may well send you a lot more than you need and it can't be guaranteed what format it will be in.0 -
Regarding backups. I email important stuff/files etc as attachments to myself regularly and it's been a 'lifesaver' a couple of times when things go t1ts up.0
