Multiple questions about my mobile

I previously had a Tesco / O2 SIM card that worked fine.
I could top it up using cash at a shop to get a receipt with a code.
I could leave the phone unused for ages, then go back and it worked fine.

Recently I got a new EE SIM card. It is PAYG top up - which I do online via their website.
But the credit keeps just disappearing. I hardly use the phone much , but when I go back to it the credit is gone.
I can't really find any decent customer service link on the EE website to question this.
I'll probably write to them.
But what is the best SIM card these days for phones you don't use much?

I recenlty tried a PAYG O2 SIM on a different phone and the same thing seemed to happen. I only used the phone once, went back to it after a couple of months and the credit was gone. So I had to go into town and get some more credit put on. Quite a hassle.
What is the best option?

I only use the phone for about 1 hour a month total. And I don't want the credit to keep just disappearing when the phone isn't used.

Thanks.

  • I have recently got a new EE SIM card for my mobile phone.
The sound quality over the network seems really poor. It's not so much the volume or the signal strength - It's more that the person I'm speaking to seems to have quite a distorted voice. Hard to describe, but like an ''electronic'' kind of voice distortion that makes them sound like a ''robot'' etc.

Can anyone explain why this might be?
Which are the best networks for avoiding this problem?

    Try Id Mobile
  • I've tried to post these three issues as three new threads.
But this website keeps putting them in the same thread.
    Not sure why.
    Can they be moved properly?

When you buy a PAYG sim for some networks, it automatically puts you onto some 'bundle' which gives you loads of stuff (that you obviously don't need) for a fixed monthly price - I suspect that's where your credit is going.

What is the make/model of your phone?

Three PAYG, or O2 Classic PAYG. Both are 3p/min, 2p/text and 1p/MB. They do not expire provided you make a call/text every 6 months. Ideally, make a test call every month to ensure all is OK (especially the battery in an infrequently used phone).

    EE users:

    text STOP PACK
    TO 150

and that should stop the credit disappearing
  • Thanks for the replies.

The O2 is a ''bundle''. Didn't really want a ''bundle'' - just a simple SIM card.
I'll need to go back to the shop and specify no bundle.

I'll need to check if EE is a bundle.

Not heard of Id Mobile before. I want a SIM I can just buy. Getting fed up of all the hassle online etc.

I wanted these three problems I have written as separate threads - not bundled into one ''multiple issues'' thread. I didn't do that - someone running this website has.

The Whatsapp is on a separate phone, so MSE website are making this too confusing.

It sounds like you are signing up to 30-day bundles with EE and O2, instead of just ordering a free SIM for delivery without payment then adding simple PAYG credit that doesn't expire.

Then you are posting on the same thread that you created, in the same way that we post replies. Better stick to that now.

Perhaps you can clarify to yourself what you did in both cases...
