Interesting topic this review for PIP.

I just rang DWP for a copy of my PIP award and whilst on the phone i asked when i'm due for my review, i know it's from October 30th this year.

He then replied your due your review from 30th October 2019. I asked about the new rules for 6 month reviews and he then said "oh yes, you'll shortly receive a letter regarding this" So just to confirm what he said i repeated it back to him and said "so i'll receive a letter regarding this soon?" He said no, you'll receive your review forms soon... Now i'm completely confused, are the reviews 12 months or 6 months before? Who knows...

Even if somebody knows it probably isn't frontline staff at the DWP!
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

poppy12345...of the seven call handlers I spoke to only one gave me the correct information.

Apparently whether your award was granted by DWP at assessment stage or whether it was appealed and granted by the Courts you should get your review form six months before award ends.

Only took me six phone calls to find this out!! My review form came Saturday and I posted it back today, not very big boxes to input information on, just an update on how my condition was now compared to February 2016, but I can say I filled those boxes lol ! as well as sending my latest scans.

Called today to see if they had received my review forms to be told something differently AGAIN by Leigh that I had to fill in a new PIP form and that the review form would not be accepted (they hadn't received it yet) that someone had gone in to case on Monday this week and had put a notepad entry on that I should not have been sent a review form and that I need to be contacted to fill in a new form for PIP because I had been told the previous week that I did not have to fill in a new claim for PIP.

Put through to a Manager, who looked in to case and called me back....

Now told they will accept my review form and stated I do not have to send in the new application form and that they will decide the outcome of my claim using the review form!!!!

Can't see this happening myself, it is a ticky box environment and the review form does not qualify for ticky box decisions.

Called back one hour later and asked the person who answered the call if she could please read the last notepad entry from earlier as my head was swimming.

It stated that there had been incorrect information given, that I had been told today not to send in a new application for PIP and that they would accept my review form (if it arrives) for my claim.

    Absolutely appalling .

This is exactly what i thought may happen. Those awarded by a Tribunal are contacted 14 weeks before their award is due to end and they are sent PIP2 forms not review forms. Hopefully they are true to their word and they accept the review form.

Actually poppy, according to 'Leigh' and 'Jackie' (Manager who called me back) if there is an end date for PIP, as there invariably is, then they do not send out review forms, that an application to reapply for PIP would be sent out 14 weeks before end date, that whether an award was given by the DWP or by a Tribunal they are treated the same (quite rightly I believe) and that the only time a review form would be sent to a claimant is if they are of pensionable age whereby a 'light touch' review would be done.

When I originally called in April, seven months before my end date, I was told to call back in July, at no time was I told I could call back in May (six months before award end date) and actually notify them of a coc to start the ball rolling with a new application for PIP.

Anyway I hope everything is sorted now but I am not holding my breath, and, if they can do a reassessment in 14 weeks when firstly it takes easily a week to receive any forms you send back the I will take my hat off to them.

I think what angered me today was that on calling last week I was told that I did not have to send my PIP application form back in but the first words out of the call handlers mouth today were....'why haven't you sent in your PIP application form yet'

This just goes to proves how much DWP advisers and even case managers actually know. This isn't correct, i've had a review for myself and my daughter, with my daughters review being October 2019. The end date of her award was originally October 2020, as at that point they were doing reviews 1 year before. Her decision letter even stated the time of contact, which was 1 year before and i received her review form 1 year before.

Her 2nd award letter states end date Feb 2021 and review is Feb 2020. I do believe that they have now changed review times to 6 months before.

My first award had and end date and a review date and surprisingly i was also contacted exactly 1 year before. My 2nd award is until Oct 2020 and it states here on my award that i'll be contacted Oct 2019. All awards were made by DWP.

Those awarded by DWP have review dates but Tribunal awards have end dates.

Exacty, different information given by different people.

I have found out my award letter dated 15.11.2014, PIP application commenced 08.07.14 awarding me standard mobility and enhanced care, this was when I started the appeal.

    The above letter states
If your award of Personal Independence Payment has an end date, you'll be sent a letter around 14 weeks before your award ends. This letter will explain how to claim if you want to.
The appeal was carried out 18/05/16 and I was awarded Enhanced mobility and Enhanced care. I received a letter from the Tribunal confirming this.

I then received another letter from the DWP accepting the Tribunal decision, same start date, same end date and again the above notification in bold. No mention of a review.Although during one of my many telephone calls I was told by a case Manager that no review date had been set and this was an error, maybe that is why, who knows.

I cannot do anything else, I am drained and far too much going on elsewhere to worry about this anymore.

My sister was recently awarded the enhanced rate for care and mobility until June 2029 (10 years). This was a transfer from DLA to PIP with only a paper review. The medical practitioner did call (out of the blue) to discuss the contents of the form, but mum said the only comment she made was that the information given was very detailed and then asked her to clarify a point in respect of safety issues. When the PIP decision arrived detailing the way in which the points were awarded, I was really amazed at how they had been given (made no sense at all), but mum didn't challenge this as the enhanced rates had been given. It really annoys me that a 'medical assessor' is able to make a judgement when in many cases they do not actually understand the impact that certain conditions have upon an individual. Disabled people have enough to cope with without enduring those reviews!
