Right, time to sort this out now and for good!
I'm 19, didnt go to uni, but instead started working, I am now in a £18,500 grand a year job. I'm fantastic with money, and used to save between £250-£400 per year. I own my own car outright, Toyota Corrolla 52 reg. And in June I purchased my own house with my boyfriend.
SITUATION NOW!
I owe £2500 plus on my credit cards
£2500 to my mum due to my partner being out of work
£15000 on a loan
£137750 on a mortgage.
Now the mortgage and loan are fine, its the £5k to credit cards and mum. My fella is looking for work but the problem being is that my income is £1200 per month. Our outgoings are £1800 to the nearest figure. He is looking to get into work as soon as possible which is great but can only find jobs that he is elligable for for £10000 -£16000 which would cover the bills but give us no extra money to pay off the credit cards, or hardly live.
It's really getting me down, I'm working at Abbey and was promised the job in August to go up to full mortgage adviser (£22-26k per year) at the beginning of November 2007, but have now been told that it wont be until January when this happens. It has annoyed me a bit obviously because of the money situation but at the same time I am getting incentives for every thing i sell such as c/c's £5 leisure voucher/supercheques (which is going towards an all inclusive holiday next year, as we cant use these to pay off c/cs etc.)
I'm really pulling my hair out about this but if i talk to my fella about this he shoots me down as he was diagnosed with depression by the doctor also, from what happened from his previous employer and why he left work.
I could really do with someones help to sit down with me and talk everything through, where i could save money, where i could make money and things like that so that i dont keep everything vented up.
Thanks for listening.

Hi Em and welcome to DFW
:grouphug: (thats not a dodgy threesome its a hug)
Best thing to start with is your SOA which is a statement of affairs and it lists all your incomings & outgoings so we can scrutinise it and see where you can cut back
Does other half claim JSA?
You have found the right place ~ we are here to help

Hi and welcome to the forum you have definately come to the right place.
As already said best place to start is to list a full SOA with all your incomings and outgoings and list your debts with their aprs.
People will then offer you lots of advice on possible ways to reduce the outgoings and which debts to clear first etc.

Well we pay half on everything but ill put it as how it is now and joint:
£1500 in joint bills account left from my mums money
£1200 from my income
Mortgage £766.11 (NatWest which we got a staff rate of 5.79% for June 2010)
Contents £8.25
Council Tax £114.84
Water £20.00
Electricity £40.00
Home phone and internet £23
Mobile £35.00 (me) £80 (oh)
Ground rent and service charges £67.67
Life cover £14.49
Pet Insurance £6.15.
Mobile insurance £5.99
Food £100
Car Insurance (i have paid in May for this year but i want to put away monthly to pay for next year) £75
Car Tax MOT (again the same as above) £25.00
Only I drive btw.
Petrol £90
TV Liscense £27
Gym £60
Loan £223.89
Sky £17.50
Weight Watchers Subscription £17.95
I have £220 in vouchers so far for my holiday which i have recieved from the last 3 weeks. The incentives at work are running until xmas.
He isnt on JSA because he quit in September, he has been looking for work during the past 2 weeks on the net but has had little joy, so now im getting him to look for anything, he has applied for going places £10500-£12500 which is better than nothing, which he can do whilst looking for another job.
He has applied for a c/c to pay for xmas which has a £500 limit. no doubt he has used up the limit here. then i have changed all my c/c's across to
0% for 13 months, but its still £2500-2700 (ive never been like that before, and im really upset that i have let myself get in this situation. my credit rating is probably awfull by trying to get all the c/c changes and buying the house in june.)
Do you think it would be worth him doing matched betting during the day??? as he is at home 24-7???
Thank you for you response, means a lot.

The only thing that worries me a little with MB is that your OH doesn't seem to have a great track record with money, it might be a bit dangerous.
£100 a month car insurance  - is that right?
Do you really need £25 a month for repairs/MOT on such a new car?No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Pet Insurance £6.15 Sorry, but maybe tiddles won't get sick this year. Cancel?
Mobile insurance £5.99 Cancel? Just be more careful
Food £100 You can do it cheaper than this, head over to the Old Style Board for ways to significantly cut back
Car Insurance (i have paid in May for this year but i want to put away monthly to pay for next year) £75 Good idea, but not doable right now
Car Tax MOT (again the same as above) £25.00 Good idea, but not doable right now
Petrol £90 - What is this for? How far are you going/why?
TV Liscense £27 It's usually under £12, why is yours more?
Gym £60 - Sorry, cancel it. You can jog on the spot for free at home
Loan £223.89
Sky £17.50 Can you cancel this? Just have the freebies?
Weight Watchers Subscription £17.95 Cancel this - you'll be eating less now anyway
Any chance you could take in a lodger in the short term?0 -

Hello!
I am sorry to hear that you are having a stressy time. It sounds like you have done well in the past with earning money and saving money. It is a shame that your job promise has been delayed, maybe try not to rely on this too much in the new year as things can always change.
Could you perhaps cut back on a few things for now to get you through the tough patch and paying off loan and ur mum? Could you cut out on Sky, gym, WW subscription?
I appreciate the gym and WW may be helping you lose weight, but have you been going enough to be able to follow diet on your own, or you boyfriend follow it?
Matched betting? I think the best thing for him to do is spend 24-7 looking for a job, and just do temping or anything in the meantime, but with depression it must be hard. Check where he is at on the credit card limit AND DO NOT INCREASE!!!! He also has to cut his mobile bill as it is far too high!
Your outgoings are up to almost £2000, which you cannot cover alone, so he needs to support you. It is kind that your mum is helping, but this is only a short term solution.
