As has been said above, verify which drive is which, and which folder(s) the pictures are in on your SSD.
On the SSD, in Explorer, select all the pictures, or the folder or folders which contain the pictures, and select Copy. You can do this with a right-click on the selected items, and select it from the pop-up menu, you can select it from the Edit menu, or you can press Ctrl+C.
Without doing anything else, navigate to the drive and folder where you want to put them, select Paste (right-click within that folder to bring up pop-up menu, select it from there, or from Edit menu, or press Ctrl+V)
Once this completes, you will have two copies of your photos, one on each drive.
If you have any other drives available, with enough space, I would repeat this process to make a copy there, and then you can safely delete them from the SSD, leaving one copy on the HDD and another on the other drive.
Does this help? If you're still in doubt, feel free to ask some more.0 -
Just to follow up.
I was using Win 10.
I opened file explorer.
And then just click and drag the picture files I wanted to move from my SSD to my HDD.
Very quick and straightforward.
After moving or copying in some cases I just deleted the photos still on the SSD.It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
No.
Scared in case I lose all my photos.
Then you need to get a proper backup system, because if you don't, all the photos will be lost, it is just a matter of 'when'. Having them on 2 different drives on the asme computer is not a good idea unless you have other backups in other locations.
It is always a good idea to have a copy on your computer, a copy on a network drive/another drive outside of your computer, and a copy in a remote location (such as backed up online using something like Onedrive)0 -
If I may add my mantra...
Security, Security, location??, no security again!!
One of the big issues with disk storage (and others) is that something might just go wrong, so, you were right to be careful.
But, as has already been posted -so I will emphasise - as you value your data (pictures in your case) you should be backing up. Then if the worst happens (and yes it is lot rarer these days) you have a great chance to recover what is lost. If your ssd or hard drive completely fails (or just enough to be problematic!) and you have also backed up everything else too you can be back up and running so much quicker. Do not wait till you learn that you should have done.
Many a way to do it easily and cheaply, we all have our favourite ways, but do it and frequently to one or two different storage methods!
Backups, virus/hacking protection, secure passwords, recovery methods i.e. security ought to be essential.0
