** note: Cut deletes the files in their original place; Copy means leave the files in their original place; best to use Copy and when you are 100% sure that the files are on the HDD you can then delete them from the SSD **
Double-click Computer or This PC to open Windows File Explorer. Navigate to the folders or files you want to move on the SSD and right click them. Select Copy or Cut from the given options. Finally, find the HDD you want to store the files to, and right click blank space and select Paste.
Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + C (Copy) or Ctrl + X (Cut) after selecting these files on the SSD. In the HDD, press Ctrl + V to paste these files. If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
OP I prefer latest Win10 Insiders Build.
How it works: If you’re on the latest Insider build, you can activate the new clipboard by going to Settings > System > Clipboard, and then tap on ‘Save multiple items.’ once that’s done, you can press Win+V to access the clipboard, which shows up as a small pop up window.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. No.
Scared in case I lose all my photos.
I was thinking about downloading ontoan external HDD and then transfering back onto my PC.
But I'm not sure that I'd transfer back into my HDD rather than back again onto my SSD.
It also seems that I have the photos on HDD and SDD or (c) and (D) drives.
But again I'm not sure.
So if the photos have been sent to both drives when I uploaded them from my camera I'm concerned that they'll be deleted from both drives if I delete from one drive. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
This is where solving problems via text instructions is a little difficult (and I am not patient enough to explain well enough!).
Take your time and write down what you have...e.g.
SSD with drive letters C: (and poossibly others!) ** assuming this is the boot drive... you implied above that the SSD may be ?
HDD with drive letters ...
Each of these will have folders and may both have Pictures.
An external HDD is a good idea (will be something like E: or F:.. when you plug it in). Create separate folders on here e.g.
PicturesfromSSD
PicturesfromHDD
and Copy (not Cut) pictures to here.
When you're happy that everything is on the external disck you can then start deleting Pictures on your PC.

Yes I have done this. Clearly label the folders containing the files you want to copy from and to so you can easily distinguish the locations.
If you have copied from one drive to another, once copied it is there permanently. Deleting the source file won't remove it.
But you can test this, put a small file on the source drive, copy it to where you want to save it. Delete the source file and check copy is still there. It will be. I recently had to copy 100's of Gb's from one hard drive to another. It was fine.0 -
If your scared use copy instead of Cut and have 2 copies. If one drive dies then you dont lose your pictures.
Learnt the hard way on that.
Years back purchased a 1TB drive for all out photo's, copied all of them to the drive from various old drives and other computers then the brand new drive failed.....
Had to use HD recovery tools on the old computers/drives to get the pictures back. Took weeks to recover all my pictures and then they had lost their filenames. Just file00001, file00002 etc etc... Took forever to sort.
Get copying those pictures and creating a backup on another drive or device.
Dont forget if the SSD fails you lose everything on it. No recovery options.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
