I use Halifax Clarity credit card, chip and pin, not contactless. I withdraw cash from Caixa banks in Spain, no charges, I was there last week, best I got was £1.16.
Edit, they now charge 2€. I was charged this in October 2019.
Used Banka March and it was free.

So even the Spain claim is on shaky ground.0 -

Absolutely not correct.
You should think long and hard before attempting to give any more advice on the subject.
Definitely CORRECT, check again.
You obviously do not have a Santander Current account. I withdrew money just two week ago in Tenerife. No ATM fees

I have copied from their Santander website 2019 :-
**If you have an adult current account and pay in at least £500 each month, there are no fees when you withdraw cash from a Santander cash machine in Spain.
I will accept an apology......................0 -

As for Tandem, it is just one of many credit cards good for travel.
Maybe but Tandem gives 0.5% cashback the others don't0 -

Fortyfoot
I also have a Halifax Clarity Card but now use the Tandem Credit Card. Both are zero transaction fees but Tandem is better because the interest rate is much less and it gives CashBack on all transactions.
I always take both incase there's a problem with one, belt and braces.0 -
With a Santander bank account its free to use their ATM anywhere in Spain and Europe with your debit card and the conversion rate is the best (Visa daily rate without any fees). For the best rate using a credit card you need a Tandem CC.
A Santander debit card is only fee free in Spain (including the Balearics) and Canaries if you qualify by crediting a minimum £500 into your current account monthly, and use a Santander branded ATM (or Santander branch) in these locations
It is NOT fee free anywhere else in Europe, even at a Santander ATM/branch, or indeed anywhere else in the world.
A Santander Select debit card is fee free at Santander ATMs/branches in some other countries, however it has much more demanding Ts&Cs.Maybe but Tandem gives 0.5% cashback the others don't0 -

You claimed all of Europe which was wrong.
You failed to add the proviso of the minimum credit to the account to obtain free withdrawals in Spain.
You stated that their conversion rate is the best(VISA rate) when Mastercard has been proven to be better time after time.
So now you have been shown to be wrong, will you apologise?
As for the Tandem Card, I stated that it was one of many good cards for travel.
With the Barclaycard Platinum Travel/Cashback Plus, there is no Interest to be paid on ATM withdrawals if you cover the full statement balance. Some people may prefer that to having to cover ATM withdrawals immediately in order to avoid interest.
There are also benefits to having the Halifax Clarity over many other credit cards when travelling in certain countries, but I won't cover that here and anyway, I did not disagree that the Tandem card represented good value.....and lastly, I do have a Santander Current account and Zero CC. So, wrong again.
As an aside, I also have a Tandem CC.0 -
Thanks for the apology.
I will not lower myself to enter an argument with you
Let other other readers decide. GOODBYE........0 -

With Tandem there is no interest free period on ATM withdrawals and no cashback. Which is why I stated that Tandem is one of many good cards for travel.
I didn't say it wasn't a good card for travel.
But when people are looking for an argument above all else, often what intelligence that might have had just fades away.
If Tandem's cashback on foreign purchases places it above all other cards in your eyes, that is good for you. But there are other reasons to choose other cards.
I've already mentioned the benefit of the Barclaycard. Keeping your cash in your interest bearing account for up to two months longer and the convenience of not having to cover your ATM withdrawals whilst on holiday is a bigger benefit for some.
With Tandem, you can only withdraw up to 30% of your credit limit being another issue. So many would need a supplementary debit card. Again it means spending your cash instead of it earning interest.
So having an alternative may be better for some. I have a Tandem card and a Barclaycard Platinum Travel and a....
So don't hitch your wagon to someone who clearly got it wrong with their Santander advice, unless you too want to be viewed as an....0
