My son's buying a house and the survey, obviously, has questioned the electrics.
How old do you think this consumer units is, and is it worth getting it checked out before committing to purchase?
When i saw the title of this thread i was expecting something much older, i wouldn't be concerned at the age of that it looks fairly modern.
I was in a house not long ago and the consumer unit was an old one that uses fuse wire and was the original one from circa 1970 and they were considering changing it but aren't sure because they have never had any issues.0 -

That was my initial thought, but I didn't want to give him bad advice as I'm not an expert! Thank you!0 -

I don't know about others but I can only see one image which is mostly of the electricity meter with just a corner of the consumer unit visible. but what I can see it looks fairly modern, but can't tell if it has rcd's or not.
One observation, you appear to have an economy 7 off peak supply but only 1 consumer unit. If the house is no longer using storage heaters you would do well to get that changed for a single rate meter instead. Otherwise you are paying more for your day rate, but without the benefit of using lots of cheap overnight electricity.0 -

There are two links in the second post, the top one shows the whole consumer unit.
Can you explain why you think it's economy 7? I very much doubt it's ever had storage heaters, and is currently heated by a combi boiler.0 -
That looks fairly similar to my 1900s terrace house with the box in the hall up high. Same set up with the older wooden board with the meter on and the newer consumer box.
I had the consumer box fitted recently as previously it was an old metal wire one  I didn't however have any re-wiring done as couldn't afford it. So just because the consumer box looks newish don't assume the house was re-wired at the same time.0
