depends how dirty it is, I do mine a couple of times a week with a mop (well rung out) then once a week on my hands and knees with floor wipes to give it a really good clean
  • It depends on the type of Lam Floor you have - to be safe use a damp cloth - mild soapy water - on you hands and knees - DO NOT let any liquids sit on the floor otherwise it MAY start soaking it up like a sponge!

I have a laminate floor throughout my flat - I do try and cover it with rugs to deaden the noise though. I clean mine with mild soapy water - using a well rung out mop - I did ask my landlord what to use mind. It seems to work OK.

I brush mine daily with a dustpan/brush. Then I get a wet wipe to wipe down any dirt/marks I see randomly.

If I were to actually wash it down, I'd use Jeyes Cloths and some form of bottle spray, or just hot soapy water. I'd do this on my hands and knees. But my room is only 9x'14' so easily done in 10 minutes flat.

I use very diluted stardrops and a well rung out mop.

I go over mine daily with one of those dust mop thingies & to wash it I too use diluted stardrops, but do mine on my hands and knees.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

We're laminate all through, as well.

Daily go all over with a microfibre 'magic' mop - Wilkinsons have their own brand for £7ish, but ours is Addis or a brand similar, £10. You wash the heads laods times before buying new (£5ish). I use it dry.

Then my routine on Sunday - just finished - is Astonish floor cleaner £1ish from Wilkinsons. Similar to the Pledge mentioned above. Then sponge this over & wipe dry with a microfibre cloth.

BEWARE Cif liquid & some others, as they have a bleaching agent in them & ARE NOT suitable. Confirmed this with their helpline!

Great inventions laminate floors - you'll be amazed at just how much dust there is, which would usually be trodden into the carpet!!

  • I hate laminate flooring, we are living in a rented house which had new laminate flooring in the kitchen. It is noisy, cheap looking, scratched and looks terrible after only 2 years. It is only cheap stuff, but it has warped badly at the joins by the sink and due to cleaning. I don't even use a damp cloth on it now, just a vacuum cleaner.

I am annoyed that I will probably have to pay for it to be replaced even though it is not waterproof or suitable for use in a kitchen.

I would not advise to use a even a wrung out mop on it, wipe up any spillages immediately, maybe a slightly damp cloth would be OK if dried off completely quickly afterwards.

I hate my laminate floors - they have developed squeaks - a loud one in the doorway to my 'office' (really a tiny bedroom) as well as one in the doorway to my lounge from the rear hall. It is true what folks say too - they are real dust magnets.
