it sounds as though your Sky+ box has more taste in TV programs than you do.

.... more taste in TV programs than you do.
    Nasty :rotfl:

I suggest you unplug your box from the mains for about a minute - then plug it back in and leave for around 2 mins before turning back on.

This has always sorted problems with my Sky+ - if you have any further difficulties phone Sky on the sneaky freephone no. 08002792000. It's actually Disney Channel but if you press 1 when it's answered it connects you to Sky :D You'll probably have to wait till tomorrow to speak to Sky as I doubt if they're there at this time!

It sounds like you don't have a strong enough signal to recieve two programmes at once. I was a developer for Sky just under a year ago when Sky+ first came out and remember it being made clear to us that a strong signal is required. I do currently have the same situation as you in the house I'm renting but the landlord won't let us move the dish.

There's a screen that'll show you the strength of your signal. I think it's under "Services" (one of the blue buttons at the top of the remote) and then "System Setup" then "Signal Test". There should be two bars, one for strenth and one for signal. Both of these should ideally be about 3/4 full. In my case, they're just under half :(

If someone from Sky fitted the dish, you could probably complain, and say they've fitted it, but in a place where the signal isn't strong enough. Ask for them to re-fit it for free.

Sounds like you are in exactly the same situation as myself. You can only watch one channel and not record (the record will fail), or can record but are not able to watch any other channels (no signal message).

This is because in order to watch one channel and record another you are streaming two channels at once. The signal doesn't sound strong enough to cope with two streams. As I said on the Signal Test page mine is just under half full and can only cope with one stream at a time.

guess i popped in late. Have a little knowledge about this and its true that you need two strong signals to watch & record simultaneously.

Maybe well worth checking the pins that plug into the back of your sky+ box. Maybe a lose connection or the pin is not hooked upto the wire properly.

    Cheers
