Hi i've read alot on this but im not sure if anyone else can give us some advice. We're looking to move onto an estate and the house we like is about 400m from overhead cables. Although im not sure if the cables are the high power ones. Im just wondering if anyone can give some advice on this distance and or the type of pylons they are? I've attached a picture of the pylon (from google maps) and one that i know is in a park where i currently live that is one of the huge power lines. they dont look the same.
https://ibb.co/8mnNQrM -- This is the one near the estate we want to move to (approx 400m as the crow flies from the house)
https://ibb.co/bBsZwgX -- This is the Larger ones that i have found on google that is in a park near where we currently live.

What sort of advice are you after?
Are they damaging? No.
Will they make the property less valuable due to the suspicions of the tin-foil-hat brigade? Quite possibly.0 -

This is just one http://www.emfs.info/living-overhead-line/
of many websites on overhead power cables giving advice...
.....Advice given on Assured and Regulated Tenancy, Further advice should always be sought from a Solicitor....0 -

Thank you for such a quick response, Its a very popular estate so we're not too worried about the sell on value at the moment. Its just whether or not they are any risk to our young children. I've read quite a few that < 50m show higher risks.
also if anyone knows if these are classed as "high power" lines just based on the photos?0 -
Just ensure children always wear metal foil hats.
Which will also mark the family as "special"0 -
It's a tiny picture, but it looks like a typical 144 000volt pylon to me. These are 'high power lines.' I'm not sure that the larger ones carry any more voltage than that.
At a distance of 400m, the effects of the pylons, EMF or aesthetic, would be negligible, especially in an urban environment, where there will be other more tangible health risks, like diesel particulates, or being run over by the emitter of the same.0 -
400m is a quarter of mile. So its not close, I wouldn't worry in the slightest0

Thanks everyone for the serious and funny responses. Looks like its nothing to be too concerned about at that distance.0

If you can see them from the back garden would be the biggest problem at 400M, not good to look at really.0

Very unlikely to be 144 000. Maybe you were thinking of 132,000 although from what I can make out this looks to be either a 275,000 or 400,000 circuit.
Regardless of the actual voltage I would simply take the advice of others here and only worry if they are an aesthestic concern.
