BA Codeshare with AA?

Just for a bit of reassurance for the op I've flown with both AA and BA. Given the choice I would go with AA every time. I found them to be much more helpful and a far superior service to BA.
I agree, for same reasons.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.

Although I find the AA stewardesses to more like hatchet faced harridans going through the motions.0 -

No that would be Quantas' flight attendants.0 -

That's one of the reasons we stopped flying AA. The AA flight attendants seemed to resent the paying customer being there.
Plus AA were very adept at mislaying luggage!0 -
Things to be aware of if booking an AA flight through the BA website:
You are flying on AA. You go to the AA check in / bag drop desks.
AA often operate from a different terminal to BA
If you are flying from the US to the UK, EU261 does not apply.
You handle seat reservations through the AA website. AA will probably have a different booking reference, but you should be able to get that through the BA website. Unless you have status, AA are more generous with free seat allocation than BA. You can see what seats are available before you choose which flight you want. You can select some seats free of charge at the time of booking.
If I was doing a round trip on AA, I would book on the AA website. You can still get Avios and Tier Points credited to your BA account. The only reason to book AA flights via BA is if you need qualifying flights to earn or keep status in BA Executive Club.
Hi Thanks for your reply, what does EU261 mean?
Also the only reason I've ended up with these AA flights is because the scheduled return flights I booked had been cancelled, that was going to be a stop in Nashville, so Netflights moved us to a direct AA return from MIA to LHR. I booked with BA because the have they largest cabin bag allowance and I only have hand luggage booked for the 4 of us that are travelling. I was going to check in 1 large hold bag and that would be sufficient. But now I have 2 problems that the AA cabin bag size is smaller but also my booking won't allow me to pay for a checked return bag?0 -
EU 261 is the law that allows you to claim compensation when a long haul flight is delayed by more than 3 hours. It applies to all flights taking off from the EU, but only applies to flights into the EU if operated by an EU carrier.
If a BA flight from the US to the UK is delayed by 4 hours, you could be entitled to €600 compensation. On an AA, that does not apply.
Re the checked baggage, have to tried going into "manage my booking" on the AA website? You should also do this to select seats as soon as possible. Don't wait for on line check in to open.0 -
I've tried on BA & AA to add return bags but it just says "excess baggage cannot be purchased for this journey" on the inbound flight, I can add it for the outbound. Also when I go onto choose seat it looks like they've transferred the seat numbers I picked on my 1st flight that was cancelled and allocated them to this flight, however it's a different seat layout. If I pick any other seat it shows an additional charge. I thought being changed onto a direct flight would have made life simpler!0

Unless your Agent has sold you a Basic Economy ticket, you can check in one bag per passenger free of charge.
If you are on a Basic Economy ticket, you can check a bag for $60. I would imagine you can pay for this at the airport.

I think it is basic economy but didn't think it'd give me seats if it was basic economy, I'll try getting in touch with them and see what they say. It does say on my app that if booked through BA and travelling on a partner they will honour BA baggage sizes, who hopefully that'll mean I have no issue with my cabin bags0
