I didn't want to kill it, so no weedkiller, but I'll be monitoring it carefully, due to its former dominance in that place.0 -
You can dig it out, but doing it once and then not looking at it for 6 months is not going to work. Do it once, then go back regularly and look for bits you missed that are growing - yes it is ongoing, but the ongoing should be much less work than the first time - 10 minutes a week or so.But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

My ivy definitely does have stumps as it is very mature and the trunks are massive. I have some growing up against buildings so its tricky to dig out - I shall try the approach Mistral uses of drilling into the stump.0

I have it growing up the side of the leylandii cypress tree at the bottom of the garden, the tree was there when we moved in 24 years ago and it stands around 30ft tall with a fairly thick trunk so I am hoping the blooming ivy doesn't over run it0
