Setting up Sky Q to receive Ultra HD

IMHO there is little difference between non HD and UHD! apart from subscription Channels charging more for a HD channel. The providers just want to rip off customers who want HD or UHD channels.
If you can't tell the difference between SD & HD (let alone UHD) then you either need an opticians or a new TV.0 -
Or the user has a very good TV .
It also depends upon what you are watching .
UHD 4k yes i see it as better but not worth paying extra for .0 -
Have a new LG 55 UK 6500 PLA TV and have set it up to spec 2160A and boxes ticked BUT the ULTRA picture is no different to regular HD.
Can anyone help me please ?
Thanks
That is a very cheap low end 4K TV so you can't really expect much from it to start with and then when you considering Sky Q UHD is mostly streaming then it won't be nowhere the quality of a 4K Blu-Ray with a decent Blu-Ray player.
If you really wanted to benefit from UHD you shouldn't have got such a low end TV.0 -
A good way to tell if you are watching HD or UHD is to turn the subtitles on. They don't work with UHD!0

That's most interesting.thanks0

Yeah i have UHD and there is definite different in UHD compared to standard HD.0

Yes and so I understand but as mentioned before, I could even go as much as saying my UHD reception is perhaps inferior to my HD picture. Particularly as bought identical model tv but with Ultra tv availability and have Sky Q available. Normal HD picture is good but really wanted to see a substantial improvement in picturexwuality in Ultra mode with new tv.0

There are no dedicated UHD channels on Sky. UHD is obtained via the red button and using the menu that then pops up and selecting UHD. It is an option on those channels that normally broadcast in HD and not SD channels. Watching in UHD is certainly crisper than HD. And using UHD removes the option of using the home button on the SkyQ Remote without the picture reverting to just HD.0

Normally viewing on the red button you cannot pause or record the programme.I presume this is different in that it just gives you the option of UHD ?0
