Cheap calls from landline or voip to mobiles

Hello

I've read the MSE guide but there's too much info to digest.

I make regular calls to mobiles - my BT bill is getting a bit steep. Someone suggested taking a VOIP contract. I only ever call UK mobiles.

Which is the cheapest one to choose that has reliable service? By service I mean having tech support to sort out problems when they arise...

And what can I expect to pay monthly?

Why don't you get a cheap mobile contract with inclusive minutes. You can pick them up with unlimited minutes quite cheaply nowadays.

I second the mobile suggestion. It's much cheaper than paying landline charges. We have Plusnet sims, £5.00 each for unlimited minutes unlimited texts and 1.5gb data. Well actually they are going up 25p this year but still very good value.

A Three 3-2-1 PAYG or o2 Classic PAYG SIM card would cost you 3p per minute for those calls.

If you want to go down the VOIP route, DiscountVoip, part of the Delmont group offer calls to normal UK mobiles for £0.0036 per minute including VAT.

Not the best quality but cheap if that is what's needed.

Landline providers offer a range of inclusive call bundles, usually a selection of AnyTime, Evening and Weekend, or Weekend Only deals. An Anytime deal usually costs around £7 to £10 per month. In most cases the allowances cover calls to geographic numbers starting 01 and 02, non-geographic numbers starting 03 and mobile numbers starting 071 to 075 and 077 to 079. BT is now the ONLY large landline provider to NOT offer inclusive calls to mobile numbers.

You might consider swapping to a different landline provider, or, if you have inclusive calls to 03, 0845 or 0870 numbers taking advantage of one of the dial-through providers offering calls to mobile numbers at no additional charge via one of those gateway numbers.

Thanks everyone - food for thought

I'm in contract with BT until October, but then I will ditch it - I was forced to go with BT or spend hundreds having a new line put in when I moved

Regarding mobile calls - this is the issue and I should have said on my original post. My home/office is a mobile dead zone. We can get one bar of signal if we stand outside. We bought a mobile signal booster off ebay and it was rubbish, no improvement at all. We bought sims for every network and they all were the same. So I installed whatsapp but of course most clients don't have that on their phones so I've got limited use for it.

I already have one VOIP phone paid for by a second firm I work for (second to my main business). The mobile calls on that are 9p a minute but it wouldn't be fair to use those as its paid for by another firm I work for.

Can you run two numbers/accounts via one VOIP phone? - what I mean is use the existing Yealink T21P E2 phone I've got with two separate VOIP accounts?

I am not familiar with the Yealink T21P. Here I use the Siemens A580IP. This is a dect base unit which supports up to six VOIP accounts and one fixed line. You can log multiple handsets into the base unit and configure each to use any or all of the VOIP accounts. My base unit came with two handsets. I find it ideal for small business use.

I believe the A580IP is out of production now but a similar successor is the Siemens S850A GO. You can find the information here:-

The Yealink T21 allows for up to 2 SIP accounts.
Since the T21 has 2 programmable buttons, you should be able to put one line on each so that you can decide which service to dial out on.

You should be able to find instructions online for this. Alternatively you could contact Yealink tech support (check their support area for info first).
