Currys owe me £1255.00 - it's been a month!

This is the first time I've ever written on this forum, so here goes...
  • We bought a fridge from Currys and it was wrong so we arranged a refund
  • As we had paid using a voucher, they were going to issue a full refund onto a gift card and send in the post
  • We received the voucher on 10th April, went to use it on 13th April
  • Instead of £1,255 it had £150 on the card
  • Looks like they sent me £150 for someone else and can't answer as to whether my £1255.00 was sent elsewhere in error
  • We have been waiting since 13th April for them to resolve it and STILL we don't have our money back, it is 13th May today
  • I have been put from department to department, they will supposedly re-issue, they have a manager looking at it, they'll call me back, all of that
  • After 1 month of having £1,255 of our money I'm not going to rest until full refund and a whopping compensation received
  • Even the phone operators dealing with it can't believe how ridiculous this is
Desperate to hear if anyone has experienced anything similar to this infuriating situation.

Write to head office demanding a full refund within 14 days or you will sue.

    That might shake them up.

If they ignore you issue a claim.

How much "whopping compensation" are you going for?

A “whopping” 20p for the lost interest. And that’s being “whoppingly” generous!

What makes you believe you will get "whopping compensation" in addition to a full refund?
I expect you might get a gesture of goodwill £30 voucher...

**looks at definition of whopping before responding**. Haven't figured that out but will keep you guys posted if its better than .20p for interest loss or £30! LOL

Was just after guidance incase anyone has had this situation as I haven't before. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Did you spend the £150 voucher or still have it? If so I'd expect that to be taken off of the £1255. As others have said you might get a token amount in return for the delay, £30 seems about right.

Also as advised write to them giving them 14 days to respond and if they don't raise a county court claim.

Nope, we've been very honest and they've deactivated the £150 card. 30 days and not returning £1255 - I'm obviously the only one to think this is outrageous. I'll look into county court claim, thank you.

I'm sure people in your shoes would think it is outrageous too, but the whopping compensation line was never going to go down well on this board. You're dealing with Curry's here though, and if this is a genuine case and you're not trying to defraud them, I'm sure you'll get your new fridge soon enough.
  • I see... thank you. The potential for me to be viewed as a fraudulent claim didn’t cross my mind, noted, with thanks!

(Newbie on this forum takes notes) and looks for alternative word 😂
