When I started I used to come home to something on my doorstep every day. Won amazing prizes!
Definitely this is the driest patch ever.
I put it down to less competitions, more gleams/rafflecopters (which I don't do. I'm not entering via 72 routes to win a towel), having to share competitions on Facebook and the requirement to tag in the population of a small country.
I can't remember the last time I saw a car as a prize in mags.
More people entering.

I am happy about that, they were generally low value cars worth quite a bit less than the £10,000 prize that replaced them (if someone really wanted the car they could always use part of the £10,000 to get one and still have several £k left).
That said, the total prize funds for the magazines keep shrinking as the circulation figures for the magazines keep falling.0 -
I think its just not what it used to be unfortunately, I remember being excited to see postie everyday lol.
I still love comping thats why I still do it, but times have certainly changed. I think this dry spell is just how it is now. xThanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

Every day! I guess someone was either very lucky or is exaggerating slightly.
I can remember winning something pretty much weekly a few years back, but it tends to be one or two small wins a month now and one biggish win a year.
I guess all the 'I've won a fortune' pieces that mags and tabloids seem to like running don't help, giving new compers a false impression of the chances of winning.'...luck came to those who left a space for it.' Terry Pratchett0 -
A definite down turn for me this year. Last year I did wonderfully well but this year hardly anything. However, I don't know about anyone else but the less I win, the less I enter as I lose enthusiasm, so part of it is probably my own fault. For me it does seem somewhat proportionate.0

Very slow on wins these days. I had three years where each year I won about £3000 worth of prizes, some better prizes than others. Then the newspaper articles about people comping for a living (usually bloggers) made loads of people start entering and lots less prizes and posters, there used to be at least 500 pages of comps a day and I would struggle to keep up!
I just enter web entries now and no social media so that cuts them down a bit too.
I just don't expect any wins now and then if I get any its a brucey bonus!BANGARANG :j0 -
It's been a rubbish year for me so far anyway, but it feels like luck has deserted me completely.
We must have peed the Comping Fairy off.
It does seem like there are less decent comps out there too, and Twitter, which was once a goldmine for decent prizes seems to have tailed off as well.
It doesn't help when these people go to the newspapers bragging to everybody saying how easy it is to win. We know differently.
Let's hope that it starts to pick up eventually.
Be Lucky.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
When I started comping in 2011 I think it was a bit of a golden age with companies feeling they had to run lots of competitions on facebook and twitter to get followers etc. I think maybe it didn't get them as much extra publicity/business as they'd hoped and the prizes got smaller and fewer.
I've found purchase comps better of late - won £100 on the Visa one, but I know that was luck, really.0 -
I’ve entered 1607 competitions this year and I’ve won absolutely nothing. I think I need to increase my output!0
