Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams and will fail in court so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Thanks - but I mean the car park operators, as it were - can they cancel the PCN? It is a port authority who have outsourced the control of the car park to Civil Enforcement - could they themselves instruct them to drop the action?0
-
Always.Does the retailer/authority responsible for the car park have the power to cancel the PCN directly?
That's why I say in the NEWBIES thread, do a Store Manager complaint every time.
Yes that as well, because that puts them on the spot in public. Remember the 8 seconds is highly likely to be wrong because ANPR systems are not synchronised that well, to the second. Is it worth sending a blistering Facebook message to communicate my ire at attempt to fine the 8 second flouting of the grace period?
The ''in'' clock might be a minute or more out, with the ''out'' ANPR clock, and neither will be joined to the PDT machine clock. Whatever a PPC blathers in their replies, ANPR is NOT the same system as a PDT machine and they do not run from the same server or timer. Hence you can see why a minute or two out, makes all the difference.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I understand from a post you have made on another thread that you are taking legal action against CEL. Would it be nosey to ask for more detail. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
-
Of course not isn’t nosey; there are two firms with pending legal action against the harbour, not least for the data protection breach they have committed in the provision of identifying information to a company who by law have no permission to be operating on the site. To say that the harbour master is running scared of me is a gross understatement, and I am afraid that I am rather enjoying ramping up the fear factor as he continues to evade my attentions.0

BernieCrumbles, can you tell us whether you have got any further in your discussions with the harbourmaster and CEL ?0
