Emirates Compensation

I made a claim to Emirates for E600 in March for a delayed departure from Heathrow to Dubai which meant I missed my connection to Auckland and therefore spent 24 hours in Dubai before completing my journey via Brisbane. My claim was rejected as Emirates said that the plane was delayed by a medical emergency.Subsequently I submitted the same claim via solicitors Bott & Co which was settled in full two weeks later, but obviously less their costs.
I am mystified how a claim that was rejected at first can be paid in full two weeks later and feel that i was misled or worst lied to. Emirates have closed their case and refuse to engage in any discussion about paying my solicitors costs.
Is there anything else I can do?

Just realise how many passengers give up after the first rejection that's why they refuse to pay compensation. Think how much they save. When you were in Dubai were you given a hotel and all meals and refreshments excluding alcohol? I've never heard of anyone suing an airline for their solicitors cost's0

Each time I've flown to Australia, I've hoped to be delayed for a couple of days in Dubai! I couldn't afford to have a stay there if I had to pay for it myself, and to have the airline put me up in a nice hotel so that I could just see enough to say I've been would be lovely!
Many years ago, when I took the "Kangaroo Route" to Australia (9 stops if I remember correctly), we had mechanical problems in Manilla - spent two or three days in a lovely hotel, sight-seeing trips and accompanied tours with a guide, all paid for by BOAC - no such thing as "compensation". In those days, it was an experience that I wouldn't otherwise have had.0 -
One should never ask a lady her age but you give it away somewhat BOAC, weren't they the last company to use propeller planes. LOL0

Aah, but they would be the best propeller planes! I can still remember how exciting it was to get on a plane, and if you really want a clue - my first ever flight was in a Caravelle:rotfl:0 -
Ahh, the good old days when men would travel in suits and ties and wearing a trilby hat and ladies wore dresses and high heels. Was this pre-antibiotics ?0

You can complain to the UK National Enforcement Body (NEB), namely the CAA.
All the airlines do the same thing, it not just Emirates. They have all been getting away with this for 14 years.
It happens to such a degree that one would expect the CAA to have noticed already! but thats difficult when they 'turn a blind eye' in such a complicit and supporting manner!:mad:Please read Vaubans superb guide. To find it Google and then download 'vaubans guide'.0 -
Yes we were put up in a hotel in Dubai. However, it is not much fun when you only have the clothes you stand up in and you body clock is all over the place, plus you have another 16 hours to travel0

Solicitors costs are not recoverable from claims under EU261 but then they wouldn't be if you had taken legal action against them in the county court either as they are well below the small claims limit which never allow lawyers costs to be recovered apart from the court fees paid0

I always have change of clothes and shoes in hand luggage, even if it's a same day return flight, too often had an unexpected overnight stay somewhere.0 -
I made a claim on the 14th of April for missed departure from Dubai to Newcastle. The denied the claim and now won’t answer any emails. Any one any idea on how to claim against them in the County Court?0
