Called into the branch today, receptionist said that the Cash Card does not have an overdraft facility on it and that you cannot go overdrawn when withdrawing cash whether in UK or abroad, but you can go overdrawn if the Nationwide issue any charges e.g. insufficient funds to pay direct debits.0

I have now received my Flex Account card and it is a Visa debit card. Obviously I can use it where I see the Visa sign. Does that mean when drawing cash out abroad I will receive the Visa exchange rate?
Also my card does not have a cirrus sign on it, am I worst off having a visa debit card than just a cash card with cirrus sign when using in Europe for drawing out cash?
Any responses much appreciated.0 -
Commission free withdrawals and yes, you get the proper VISA rate & Not the crappy Tourist rate.0

Nationwide CashCard + local chargesAlso my card does not have a cirrus sign on it, am I worst off having a visa debit card than just a cash card with cirrus sign when using in Europe for drawing out cash?
However, when using debit (or credit) card for purchases, especially in Spain, be aware about a new 'scam':
Something interesting on nationwide.co.uk

Noticed in last weeks Independent that Nationwide are the only bank or building society that do not make charges when you use your bank card abroad. I am therefore transferring my account.0

Has anyone had an experience of depositing cash into a nationwide flex account in the UK only to find that it is not immediately availible for withdrawl.
I deposited some cash for the wife who is abroad and needed some emergency money, she is using a Nationwide flex account Cashcard (Cirrus ) in another country.
All the ATMs she has tried have told her to contact her own bank.
Normally, when I have done this before, she can take the money within minutes.
Is there a delay updating the foreign ATMs?or maybe it is because I deposited the money on a weekend.

most likely the fact it's a weekend though if you deposited it in a branch am a bit surprised it wasn't immediate0

Maybe the connection to Nationwide was down at the time she tried to do the withdrawal.0
