Cards/cash in Channel Is (Jersey)

We are shortly going to Jersey and was reading conflicting info regarding ATMs and card charges.
We bank with Santander and TSB, I saw a thread mentioning NatWest regarding the Channel Is as foreign and charging for card use, but nothing specific about other banks.
I understand Channel Is currency isn’t legal tender in England, so would need using or swapping in a bank. Is it better to use English notes/coins in Jersey?
Any other tips?
Thanks

You can use English money in Jersey, change in Jersey notes (which are not marked 'Sterling') that you may end up with are not always accepted in mainland shops but can be paid into your bank account.
I don't know about ATM use of UK cards, maybe s bank like NatWest use such an excuse to charge...Evolution, not revolution0 -
Just get a free Monzo or Starling account and use for your trip. No foreign exchange charges.

I had the very same question a while ago, but my search didn't find it. Perhaps too old.
Treatment seems to depend on one's bank. In our case, our Nationwide debit card had zero fees.
As eDicky suggests, Jersey and English notes and coins are interchangeable in use. If you are unsure about using cards, take Sterling notes and spend away.
Try not to bring Jersey notes or coins back to the UK. Spend or change them, or save until next time.
FWIW, the same applies to Guernsey currency.0 -
Incidentally, I spoke on the phone with Santander... the debit card person said I may get charged, the credit card person said I wouldn’t :mad:0

Change will be typically given in a mix of Jersey and Bank of England coins and notes but if it's your last day then a polite request for English only change is fine. Otherwise use up any remaining change at the airport.0
