But it really annoys me when I get normal wheat products instead of Gluten Free
I think these are both fair enough, assuming they didn't have a closer alternative.  Lots of people choose vegetarian or gluten free products out of preference, but would prefer meat or wheat products than nothing.

If the substitution isn't suitable for you, you can always reject it, so it's no different from them saying the product is out of stock.

That's me, so I put a note in saying substituting with meat is ok so there's less chance of being left with nothing.
I do wonder how many pickers don't read the notes though.
Depending on the shop, some do not have "notes" to enter, Asda is one for instance, which is why I prefer Waitrose where I can specify the type of suitable sub, or preferred size of bananas

    That's wonderful!! :D

Can't beat that one. Best one I've had was fenugreek instead of fennel. I suppose the logic was that they both began with 'fem'.

I don't shop online myself, but I do recall a friend ordering tinned dog food for his German Shepherd, and being sent red salmon instead. I imagine Zimba (the GSD) was probably delighted!
