I think most people would prefer to pay Sentinel the asking price than faff about with Norwich & Peterborough and get it freeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

My renewal came through today, and, as others have experienced, I had been moved from the basic cover to Sentinel Gold. Renewal was priced at £74 (interesting that for new customers their website quotes £89.95).
I expressed my surprise at the increased premium to the very helpful call centre operator explaining that many of the 'extras' included in the Sentinel Gold were not needed as they were covered by my household insurance and that all I really needed was a basic policy such as the Halifax Card Care currently priced at £42.
I was then offered a discount as a 'loyal customer' for the rate of £54 which I accepted. This saves the hassle factor of moving to another provider, plus I like the fact that I can amend/change/delete cards with Sentinel Gold on-line rather than having to fill in forms or go through a call centre.
Hope that this helps others to bargain with Sentinel!0 -

I've got this cover free with my N&P current account (I wanted the free withdrawals overseas - just put in £500 per month) but I can't say I'm that interested. I certainly don't see the point paying for this cover.
I've got a few cards around - they limit my liability to between £0 and £50 if the card is lost and used before I notify them (check your own ts&cs!)
While I see that £35 is cheaper than £50 x the number of cards if they are stolen and used, I do not believe anyone knows my PINs (different for different cards and not written down anywhere) and I'd certainly have a good moan at any shop that accepted a poor approximation of my signature to pay for goods or services.
Furthermore, I don't carry around everything all the time, especially not on a night out. I don't leave bags/coats/my trouser pockets unattended and always put my hand on my wallet in crowded places. (My nan taught me to do that!)
I also used Martin's card guard http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cardsgone/ and have all the phone numbers in one place.
If being careful and ringing more than one phone number is a hassel for you and you can justify spending £35 for this luxury, that's your choice. I don't see the point in it, like many luxuries. Please note: I am NOT Martin Lewis, just somebody else called Martyn that likes money saving!0
