If you did want to charge it without a PC, there are plenty of USB/ipod mains chargers available, quick search on eBay will list hundreds

I have an ipod nano with a mains charger, so no worries there.
I was mainly concerned that I would be unable to use the browser in the UK, without some sort of unlocking or hacking -and that the warranty might be useless. This thread has eased my mind on all points!
